1942-2010
William David Conkie, husband of Carmel Conkie, of the North Napan Road, passed away suddenly at his residence, on Tuesday, May 25, 2010, at the age of 67.
Born in Charlottetown, P.E.I., on June 29, 1942, he was the son of the late David and Mary (MacEachern) Conkie. He was an electronic technician by profession and attended St. Andrews Roman Catholic Church, Miramichi. He was a member of the Napan Community Hall Board; a former Director and member of the executive of the Napan Agricultural Show; a Leader with the Napan 4H Club.
He is survived by his wife, the former Carmel Dawson; one daughter, Lynn Anderson (Shawn), of Miramichi; one aunt, Florence Jenkins; three uncles, Cyrus, Ben and William Chester MacEachern, all of Charlottetown, P.E.I.; as well as several sisters and brothers in law and nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held at Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., Miramichi, on Friday. Vigil prayers were held from the funeral home on Friday evening, led by Father Claude Daigle. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated from St. Andrews Roman Catholic Church, Miramichi, on Saturday, May 29, 2010, at 11 am, conducted by Father Claude Daigle and Father Leon Creamer. Music for the Mass was provided by Mike Davis and the hymns were "Where Shall I Find You", "Be Not Afraid" and "On Eagles Wings". The recessional hymn was "Amazing Grace". The scriptures were read by Merita MacMillian and Lori Holland. The Prayers of Intercession were led by Sara MacDonald.
The pallbearers were John, James, Buddy and Robert MacDiarmid, Roy Gillis, Terry MacDonald, Brian Lamkey and Stephen MacDonald. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Carmel, I was so shocked to hear of Bill's sudden passing. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family.
He will be missed, especially by the girls at the bank. He was alwasy such a joy to wait on, and of course, so are you.
