Shirley L. Blacquier
Shirley Louise Blacquier, companion of Kenneth Steen, of Kelly Road, Miramichi, passed away at her residence, on Friday, June 4, 2010, following a lengthy illness.
Born in Chatham, she was the daughter of the late James A. and Monica M. (Petrie) Hay. She was a homemaker and a former hairdresser and was an adherent of the Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her companion and partner, Kenneth Steen; four daughters, Kathy Hannah (Harold), of Miramichi, Donna Adams (Rick Arsenault), of Bathurst, Beverley Jenkins (Robert), Sandra Lucoe, all of Miramichi; two sons, Douglas Moorhouse (Kelly), of Napan and James Moorhouse, of Calgary, AB; seven sisters, Jennie LeGresley (Edward), Rhona Muir (George), Diane Scott, Chris O'Toole (Walter), all of Miramichi, Opal Olsen (Pat), of Truro, N.S., Marie Morton (Roger), Roberta Ford, all of St. Catherines Ont.; thirteen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Marilyn Churchill and infant Linda Hay; three brothers, William, Lawrence and John Hay.
By her request, there was no visitation at the funeral home. A private graveside service was held at Riverside Cemetery, on Wednesday, June 9, 2010.
The family would like to take this opportunity to thank the medical staff of the Dr. George Dumont Hospital, in Moncton. Dr. Wannaburg and Dr. Losier and nursing staff of 2 West and 4 East of the Miramichi Regional Hospital, for the wonderful care that Shirley received. A special thank you to the Extra Mural Nursing Program, especially Katherine Keith-Irving, Margaret Walsh and Mary Mott for the loving care and compassion shown to each of the family. Your kindness will always be remembered.
Thank you to Rev. Charlene Maguire MacKnight for her visit to the house and the beautiful graveside service, as well as Doug and Dana Jardine for all the help and support we received in our time of grief.
