Mrs. Suzanne (Susan) M. Blakely

               1919 – 2017

Miramichi – Mrs. Suzanne (Susan) Marie Blakely of the Mount St. Joseph Nursing Home, Miramichi and formerly of Searle Rd., Napan passed away at her residence on Wednesday morning, April 26, 2017 at the age of 98.

Born in Portage River, NB on April 15, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Holmes) Ross.  She was a homemaker and a retired employee of Cunard Restaurant.  She belonged to the Pioneer Senior Citizens Club and a member of St. Marys Anglican Church.

Mrs. Blakely is survived by her daughter in law Suzanna Blakely of Napan; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her husband Myles G. Blakely (1973), one son Hazen Blakely, one daughter Matilda Blakely, two sisters Mary Russell and Janie Comeau, one brother James Ross.

Visitation was held at Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., Miramichi on April 27th from 2-4 & 7-9 pm.  Funeral service was held on April 28th at 10 am from St. Mary’s Anglican Church with the Rev. Deacon Ted Quann officiating and Laurie Baldwin assisting.  The music for the service was provided Charlotte Loggie and St. Mary’s Anglican Church choir and the hymns were “Amazing Grace”, “Here I Am Lord”, “What A Friend We Have In Jesus” and the recessional was “All Things Bright and Beautiful”.  Scripture readings were read by Laurie Baldwin and the eulogy was given by Wendy Welton.

Active pallbearers were Jason Blakely, Clyde Blakely, Jean Guy Brant, Malcolm Welton, Skylar Welton and Brian Robichaud.  Interment will be in the family lot of St. Paul’s Anglican Cemetery, later in the spring.

I only met Mrs. Blakely a couple of times but she was very sweet and welcoming and the World is worse off for losing her. You are in my thoughts during this hard time.

So sorry to hear of Susie's passing. She was a wonderful person. I worked with her years ago. She was the cook and I waitressed. She was funny at times.
