Stephen L. Morris

1961 – 2017

Lower Newcastle, NB – Stephen Lee Morris, husband of Mary Lou (O’Reilley) Morris of Lower Newcastle, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on July 6, 2017 at the age of 56.  Born in Moncton, NB on February 27, 1961, he was the son of John Morris and Bernice (Bourgeois) Deveau.

Steve was a devoted family man who adored his wife Lou for 27 years.  He was so proud of his daughter, Robyn Lee, and doted on her and her 1980 Impala.

In his spare time away from work as a firefighter, milkman, or marina manager, he would take peaceful rides on his '97 Heritage Softail.  He was totally invested in spending quality time camping with his family and best dog buddies Archie, Whisky, and Kurby.

Road trips to visit his mom and dad, brothers and sisters, and aunts and uncles, were always full of adventure and joy, concluding with a meal at Harvey's.

Steve was so passionate about entertaining friends in his "shed" and exploring new Kijiji projects. His generosity and helpful gestures spread far and wide with various fundraisers and daily acts of kindness.  He left an impression on anyone he encountered.

With his brother Marc on one side and Lou and Robyn on the other, and his two doggies at his feet, Steve left peacefully surrounded by love.

Steve is survived by his wife Mary Lou (O’Reilley); one daughter Robyn Lee O’Reilley-Morris of Miramichi; mother Bernice Deveau (Del) of Moncton and father John Morris (Gladys) of Salisbury; three sisters Ginette Deveau-Brewster (Scott) of Bathurst, Jodi Morris-Pond (Adam) of Salisbury and Vanessa McArthur (Jody) of Oromocto; two brothers Marc Morris (Angela) of Orleans, ON and Andre Deveau (Claire) of Dieppe; several nieces and nephews; his dogs Archie and Whisky.

Visitation was held at Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., Miramichi on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 from 7-9 pm and Wednesday, July 12, 2017 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm.  Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at 2 pm from St. Michael’s Basilica, Miramichi with Father John Beaumaster and Father Leon Creamer as Celebrants.  The Pianist was David Bunnell and the processional hymn Amazing Grace was offered by St. Michael’s choir.  Vanessa McArthur gave the first reading from the Book of Wisdom.  St. Michael’s Choir rendered the Psalm In The Sight Of The Angel’s.  Second reading by Angela Morris was from the letter of Paul to the Romans.  The Eulogy was given by Joey MacDonald.  St. Michael’s Choir sang Here I Am Lord and Whatsoever You Do during the Offertory and Communion.  The recessional song Farewell was performed by Shaun O’Reilly.  Honorary Pallbearers were Leon Arbeau, Larry Furlotte, Gilles Kenny, Pat Murphy, Jimmy Pallen, Raymond Bechard, Rudy Hoetten, Rob Kenny, David O’Reilly, and Junior Richardson.  Active Pallbearers were Billy Galley, Jean Yves Losier, Randy Hare, Alexis Rousselle, Chris LaTulippe, and Mick O’Kane.  Interment took place in St. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Cemetery.

As expression of sympathy, donations to the Children Wish Foundation, S.P.C.A or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.  Arrangements are entrusted to Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., Miramichi telephone 773-3492 or messages of condolence may be sent online to www.adamsfh.ca

I was so sorry to hear about Stephen's death. I'm his first cousin ( Bernice's niece), and used to see him often when we were kids, but geography kept us apart in later years. I have such great memories of him,his sense of humour, and his big heart. Such a loss for us all. I wish you strength and peace in the time to come.
