Clayton A. Stewart

1924 – 2017

Clayton Arthur Stewart, husband of the late Hilda D. (Connors) Stewart of the Central New Brunswick Nursing Home, Boiestown, NB and formerly of Doaktown, NB passed away at his residence on August 3, 2017 at the age of 92.

Born in Newcastle, NB on August 27, 1924 he was the son of the late Freeman and Janet (Peterson) Stewart.  He was a woodsman, custodian and guide for many years.  He was a member of the First Pentecostal Church, Doaktown.

Mr. Stewart is survived by his children Bernice Arbeau (Delbert) of Doaktown, Hayward (Winnie) of Doaktown, Paul (Audrey) of Doaktown, Thelma Carter (Charlie) of Kouchibouguac, Janet of Doaktown, William (Barb) of Doaktown, Karen Dunnett (Dwight) of Doaktown, Donald (Susan) of Medford, Oregon and Kim of Fredericton; daughter in law Wendy of Mississauga, ON; 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; two brothers Emery Arbeau (Joyce) and Bliss Arbeau (Helen) all of Upper Blackville; two sisters Rose Conroy of Blackville and Rita Sullivan of Howard Rd.; several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his parents, wife Hilda (Connors) Stewart in 2007, son Richard in 2017, infant daughter Margaret, granddaughter Kristen, sisters Carrie and Thelma.

Visitation for Mr. Clayton Stewart was held at the First Pentecostal Church, Doaktown, on August 4th from 2-4 & 7-9 pm.  Funeral service was held from the First Pentecostal Church, Doaktown on August 5th at 3 pm with Rev. H.C. Stewart & Rev. Don Stewart officiating and assisted by Rev. Pearson & Rev. MacMullin. The organist for service was Naomi Stewart and the hymns were “Sounds Like Home To Me”, “Supper Time”, “Heavens Point Of View”, “Old Rugged Cross” and “Eastern Gate”.  The eulogy was given by Sis. Herion and it was done by social media.

Honorary Pallbearers were Haviland Amos, Vingie Ward, York Donnelly, Charlie Carter, Dwight Dunnett and Delbert Arbeau.  Active pallbearers were Scott Stewart, Brent Stewart, Rick Stewart, Cameron Stewart, Randy Carter and Dawn Marie Murphy. Interment was held in the First Pentecostal Church Cemetery.

We are so sad to read of Clayton's passing. He was a sweet man. He raised a large family of truly wonderful people, and you are all a testament to his qualities as a father, and as a leader in life. You are all in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.

It is with heartfelt sorrow, that we say so long for now to Clayton Stewart. He was a great man but you will be with him again someday. There will be great rejoicing. May he rest in the arms of our loving saviour.
