Bliss B. H. MacDonald
1944 – 2019
On Saturday, March 9, 2019, Bliss Bryon Harold MacDonald, of Moncton and formerly of Black River Bridge, NB, loving husband and father of two children, passed away at the Moncton City Hospital at the age of 74.
Bliss was born on December 14, 1944 in Saint John, NB, to Harold and Bertha (Fowlie) MacDonald. On June 17, 1967, he married Diane Colborne. They raised two daughters, Dana and Nicole.
Bliss was preceded in death by his father, Harold, his mother Bertha, sister Sheila and sister-in-law Doreen (Gulliver) MacDonald. He will be dearly missed by his wife Diane, his two children, Dana Pulsifer (Greg), Nicole Mann (Paul), sister Nancy Adams (Blain), brother Darrell, grandchildren Liam, Reese, Camden, Nate, and Aaron, along with many nieces and nephews.
Bliss loved to tell stories of life on the Miramichi. With a grin a mile wide, he’d share stories of his youth and the various characters involved. A self-taught backyard mechanic, he loved all things automobile. A racing enthusiast, he was always proud of his ability to resurrect an old car, snowmobile, etc. He enjoyed playing hockey, relaxing on the beaches of the Miramichi, bonfires in the yard, joking with friends, searching out the best deal on a power tool he already had three of, and the list goes on…
Above all else – Bliss loved spending time with family. Whether it was camping, or trying to keep pace with Diane at the walking track of the Coliseum, or bragging about his two beautiful daughters, or spending time with his grandchildren attending basketball, hockey and squash games, the countless family meals where he’d proclaim “That was Excellent!” to the chef/s – he was a lover of life. For that, we were all a lover of him.
The family would like to thank the nurses on the Geriatrics floor on 5200 at the Moncton City Hospital for all of their support and kindness and a special thanks to Dr. Carole Deveau.
Visitation was held at Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., Miramichi on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Funeral service was held at Adams Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at 1 pm with Rev. David Allan officiating. The music for the service was provided by Mrs. Shirley Estey and the hymns were “How Great Thou Art” and “Amazing Grace”. The lighting of the Christ Candle was done by Aaron Pulsifer and Nate Mann. The scripture readings were read by Reese Mann and Natasha Doucet. Daughters Dana Pulsifer and Nicole Mann gave words of remembrance of their dad.
