Geneva E. Sweezey
1925 – 2018
Geneva Edith (Watling) Sweezey, wife of the late Robert Sweezey of Miramichi and formerly of Napan Bay passed away at the Mount St. Joseph Nursing Home on Monday, December 10, 2018 at the age of 93.
Born in Point-Aux-Carr on October 20, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Willard and Clara (MacDonald) Watling. She was a homemaker and attended Carmel United Church, Napan.
Geneva is survived by her three daughters: Carmel MacDonald (Edward) of Black River Bridge, Dale Hammond (Gary) of Miramichi and Bonnie Lee Villeneuve (Garry) of Napan; five grandchildren: Rodney MacDonald, Tracey Sullivan, Krista Villeneuve, Daniel Villeneuve and Raymond Hammond and one great grandchild: Emily MacDonald; four brothers: Robert Watling, Ozzie Watling, Ken Watling (Shirley) and Win Watling (Liz) all of Ontario. She was predeceased by her parents, husband Robert Sweezey, four sisters and seven brothers.
Visitation was held on Thursday at Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., Miramichi from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Funeral service was held on Friday, December 14, 2018 at 11 am from Carmel United Church with Rev. David Allan officiating. Music for the service was provided by David Mann and the Loggieville – Black River Pastoral Charge Choir and the hymns were “Jesus Loves Me”, “Amazing Grace” and the recessional hymn was “Let There Be Peace On Earth”. A special song “You Raise Me Up” was played and sung by Bob, Robert and Icy Watling. The eulogy was given by Rev. Willard Watling.
Honorary pallbearers were Raymond Hammond, Emily MacDonald, Rodney MacDonald, Tracey MacDonald, Daniel Villeneuve and Krista Villeneuve. Pallbearers were Eric Glendenning, Blair MacDonald, Darren Taylor, Scott Sweezey, Blake Taylor and Wayne Taylor. Interment will be in Black River Community Cemetery later in the spring.
As expression of sympathy, donations to the Black River Community Cemetery, Carmel United Church or charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
