Harvey J. D.  Blakely

     1946 – 2019

It is with Great sadness that the family of Harvey John Dorian Blakely announces his passing on December 17, 2019 at the Miramichi Regional Hospital after a brief illness at the age of 73.

Born in Chatham, on May 25, 1946, he was the son of the late Herman and Jean (Brown) Blakely.  Harvey’s faith always came first in his life, and it sustained him right till the end.  He was a 3rd Degree Knight, of the Knights of Columbus Father B.M. Broderick Council 1219.

Harvey was a Plumber and pipefitter by trade, he was a member of United Association of plumbers and pipefitters local 325.  He had a great love for sports, especially Toronto’s Hockey and Baseball teams.

Harvey is survived by his loving wife, Ann (Robie) Blakely of 44 years; son, Timmy (Sam Flieger); sister, Connie Martin (Peter); brothers-in-law, John Dick (Irene) and Michael Delano (Kelly); sister-in-law Jane Murphy; as well as several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his parents, sister Elaine (Blakely) McAree, brothers-in-law Herbie McAree and David Murphy.

Visitation was held at Adams Funeral Home, 140 King St., Miramichi, on Friday from 5-8 pm.  Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Michael’s Basilica on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at 11 am with Father Paul Doucet and Father John Fraser as Celebrants.  Music for the service was provided by David Bunnell and St. Michael’s Choir and the hymns were “Be Not Afraid”, “The Lord is My Shepherd”, “Hear I Am Lord”, “In My Father’s House”, “On Eagles Wings” and the recessional hymn was “How Great Thou Art”.  The scripture readings was read by Jack and Margaret Richard.

Pallbearers were Adam Ramsay, Danny Richard, Darryl Dick, Gerard Nash, Toby MacDonald and Todd MacDonald.  Members of the Knights of Columbus sat as a body for the service and formed a guard of honour.  Interment will be held in St. Michael’s Cemetery later in the spring.
