Ian G. Bowie
1930-2018
Ian Gerald Bowie, husband of Patricia Bowie of Miramichi passed away at Mount St. Joseph Nursing Home, on Sunday, October 7, 2018, at the age of 88.
Born in Oak Point on April 2, 1930, he was the son of the late George and Ida (Hay) Bowie. He was the caretaker for St. Michael’s Parish for 54 years and attended St. Michael’s Basilica.
He is survived by his wife, the former Patricia (Pat) Williams; two sons, Edward Bowie (Kim) and Brian Bowie (Heather) all of Miramichi; one sister, Connie Johnston of Miramichi; grandchildren Alix, Drue, Trevor, Megan, Mitchell, Kiefer, Hallie, Kayden, Corbin.
He was predeceased by six sisters, Muriel McLaughlin, Gertrude Wallace, Hazel Moran, Grace Ewing, Theresa Bowie, Winnifred Scott; brothers, Raymond Bowie, Guy Bowie, Alvin Bowie, Edward Bowie.
Visitation was held from Adams Funeral Home Ltd, 140 King St., on Wednesday, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial was held from St. Michael’s Basilica, on Thursday, October 11, 2018, at 11 am, with Father John Fraser as Celebrant and Father Leon Creamer and Father Dass as Co-Celebrants. Music for the service was provided by David Bunnell and St. Michael’s Choir and the hymns were “Amazing Grace”, “The Lord’s My Shepherd”, “Make Me a Channel of Your Peace” and the recessional hymn was “Into Your Hands”. A special song “Ave Maria” was sung by Paul Gregoire. The scripture readings were done by Alix Bowie and Colleen McInnis and the prayers of intercession was done by Father Fraser.
Pallbearers were Trevor Bowie, Jeff Stymiest, Ken Walsh, Robert Savoie, Joe Scott and Jim McLaughlin. Interment will be in the Parish Cemetery.
