Irene E. J. Merritt
1946 – 2018
Irene Elizabeth Jane Merritt, wife of Robert Merritt of Miramichi passed away at her residence on December 25, 2018 at the age of 72.
Born in Deer Lake, Nfld., on January 15, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Jim and Mildred (Chislett) Bryant. She was a Nursing Assistant and Military Medic. She also worked at the Miramichi Senior Citizens Home on the Veterans wing.
Irene is survived by her husband Robert Merritt; one daughter: Tammy Lynn Breau (Danny) of Miramichi; one son Philip Merritt (April) of Blackville; four grandsons: Cole, Hunter, Alexander and Brandon. She was predeceased by her parents, two sisters: Edna and Louise, three brothers: Philip, Jake and Beaton.
At Irene’s request, there was no visitation held at the funeral home. A memorial service was held at Miramichi Wesleyan Church, 52 Nelson St., Miramichi on Friday, January 4, 2019 at 2 pm with Rev. Gary Churchill officiating. Interment will be held later in the spring.
