Joseph B. Dickson

  1926 – 2020

Joseph Byron Dickson, husband of the late Gertie (Chapman) Dickson of Napan passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on Monday, January 13, 2020 at the age of 93.

Born in Chatham, NB, on November 20, 1926, he was the son of the late Earl and Gertrude (MacDonald) Dickson.  He was a tradesman with Acadia Pulp & Paper and retired as a licensed carpenter.

He is survived by two daughters: Druscilla (Brian) O’Hearn of Miramichi and Rhoda (Chris) Heighton of Beisker, AB; five sons: Kelvin (Tina) Dickson of Notre-Dame, Clifford (Tami) Dickson of St. Albert, AB, David (Manon) Dickson of Lagacieville, Stephen (Kim) Dickson of Glenwood and Shawn Dickson of Weldfield; one sister, Lylla  Flynn of St. Margarets; five brothers: Blaine (June) Dickson, Bliss (Myrna) Dickson, Keith (Linda) Dickson, Earl (Jessie) Dickson and Erwin (Myrtle) Dickson all of Napan; 13 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; one sister-in-law Nora Dickson of Napan as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his parents, wife Gertie (Chapman) Dickson, two sisters Jessie and Marion, two brothers Ben and Wilburn and daughter-in-law Jennifer Dickson.

Visitation was held at Adams Funeral Home, 140 King St., Miramichi on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm.  Funeral service was held at St. Mary’s Anglican Church, on Friday, January 17, 2020 at 1 pm with The Rev. Perry Cooper officiating, assisted Rev. Deacon Eddie Quann and Rev. Deacon Ted Quann.  The music for the service was provided by Karen Kaiser and St. Mary’s Choir and the hymns were “Amazing Grace”, “Old Rugged Cross” and the recessional hymn was “Because He Lives”.  The scripture readings was by Tina Dickson, Kim Dickson and Allen Gilliss.

Honorary pallbearers were Pat Butler, Edward Hay, Darrell Dick, Allen Dick, Earle Dickson and Erwin Dickson.  Pallbearers were Blair Dickson, Glen Dickson, Jimmy Dickson, David Marsh, Dylan Dickson, Jamie Jardine, Wade Dickson and Brian Richardson.  Interment will be held in the Black River Community Cemetery later in the spring.
