Marion E. MacDonald “Mem”
1936 – 2018
Marion Elizabeth MacDonald “Mem”, widow of the late Joseph MacDonald of Miramichi, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at the age of 82.
Born in Chatham, on October 22, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Walter J. and Estella (MacInnis) McKnight. She was a retired employee of Scotts Pharmasave and a member of St. Andrews United Church.
Marion is survived by her daughter: Cindy Lyons of Miramichi; son: Ricky MacDonald (Kim) of Miramichi; daughter-in-law: Rhonda MacDonald of Miramichi; brother: Robert McKnight of Napan; eight grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, husband Joseph MacDonald, son Walter MacDonald, son-in-law Pat Lyons and brother Wayne McKnight.
At Marion’s request, there was no visitation held at the funeral home. A memorial service was held at St. Andrew’s United Church on Friday, January 4, 2019 at 2pm with Rev. Charlene Maguire MacKnight officiating. Music for the service was provided by Joanne Wiseman and St. Andrew’s Choir and the hymns were “In The Garden” and “Abide With Me”. The recessional song was “You Raise Me Up” sung by Mike Davis. The lighting of the memory candle was done by great grandsons Sabian MacDonald and Dylan Peterson. A poem “When Tomorrow Starts Without Me” was read by close friend Lib Hachey and memories of Marion “Mem” were given by niece Keitha Gallant. Interment will be held in Pine Grove Cemetery later in the spring.
