Jean T. Blakley


Jean Tillie Blakley, widow of the late Herman Blakley, of Mount St. Joseph Nursing Home and formerly of Old Station Road, Miramichi, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on Monday, September 18, 2017, at the age of 93.

Born in Upper Napan, on June 9, 1924, she was the daughter of the late William and Elizabeth (Savoie) Brown.  She was a retired employee of Hotel Dieu Hospital, Chatham with 24 years service; she attended St. Michaels Basilica, Miramichi.

She is survived by one daughter Connie Martin (Peter), of Ottawa, Ont.; one son, Harvey Blakley (Ann), of Miramichi; five grandchildren as well as six great grandchildren.  She was predeceased by her husband, Herman, in 1996; one daughter, Elaine McAree as well as Elaine’s husband (Herbie); five sisters, Gladys Brown, Hazel Curtis, Kathleen Mehan, Hilda Marsh and Mary Gaudette; three brothers Kingston, Harry and Gilliss Brown.

Visitation was at Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St. on Friday.  Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated from St. Michaels Basilica on Saturday September 23, 2017, at 11 am, conducted by Father Paul Doucet and assisted by Father Leon Creamer. Procesional hymn was "Be Not Afraid", and the first and second readings were offered by Jack and Margaret Richard.  The Offertory hymn was "Hear I Am Lord", and the Prayers of Intercession were led by Father Paul Doucet.  The Communion hymn was "In My Father’s House" and the Incensing hymn was "On Eagles Wings".  The recessional hymn was "How Great Thou Art."

The Honorary Pallbearers were Keith and Idah Holland; Raymond Cripps; Gordon Blakely Jr.; Dosithe and Ida Power.  The Active Pallbearers were Donnie Melanson; David Blakely; John Blakely; Jason Blakely; Ian Fleiger; and Stan Muir.  Interment was in St. Michaels Cemetery, Miramichi.

Connie and family, so sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. It's been many years
since we spent time together but I still remember how pleasant your Mom was each time
I went to your house. She was a great lady, and will certainly be missed.
