Kevin J. Meagher

1954 – 2018

With great sorrow we announce the death of Kevin Joseph Meagher of Miramichi who passed away peacefully at the Miramichi Hospital on Saturday, March 17th 2018 at the age of 63.  Born on June 9, 1954 in Sydney, Nova Scotia, he was the son of the late Allan and Ann (MacDonald) Meagher.

Kevin is survived by three daughters: Shawna Shewfelt (Matt), Kristen Pitre (Kyle), and Chelsey Meagher; four grandchildren: Avery and Emma Shewfelt and Carter and Brooke Pitre; a sister: Marie Tracy-Gould (Jack) of Miramichi and three brothers: Douglas of Antigonish, NS, Allan (Brenda) of Brook Village, NS and Cyril (Mary) of Lockeport, NS, as well as three nephews, a niece, and a grand-niece.

Following in the footsteps of his father, Kevin pursued a career in mining where he worked in many locations across Canada as well as internationally in such countries as India, Greenland, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea and the Philippines.  He was well respected by his employers as well as by those who worked with him and was well known for his zest for life, sense of humour and giving nature.

Kevin was a loving, caring and generous man, not only to all, who were fortunate enough to be part of his family and large circle of friends, but also to those he met along the way, who needed a hand up.  His daughters, grandchildren and family members were the focus of his love and benefited greatly from his concern for their well-being.  Kevin will be sadly missed by all whose lives he touched.

His family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the following: Moncton City Hospital, Miramichi City Hospital and Miramichi Extramural Care.  In addition, we would especially like to thank his life-long friends from Bathurst, Moncton and Shippigan who have been there for him during these difficult times.

Following Kevin's request, there will be no service at the time of his passing but a celebration of life at a later date this summer in Brook Village, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia where he will be laid to rest with his parents.
