Anita P. Gillis
1934 – 2023
Anita Pauline Gillis, wife of Roy Gillis of Napan, New Brunswick, passed away at her residence, surrounded by her family on January 25, 2023, at the age of 88.
Born in Bridgetown, NB, on October 11, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Minnie (Howe) Parks. In her younger years, Anita worked at Stedman’s Retail Store in Newcastle and later in life at the Morada Motel in housekeeping. She was a member of Carmel United Church and the U.C.W. She served as an Elder on the Session. She always enjoyed the 4H Club where she taught sewing to many children. She was famous for her sugar donuts, daily baking and no one ever left with an empty belly. She loved to play cards (Forty-Five’s and Skip-Bo) with everyone who dropped by and in the community. She rarely missed her Tuesday night Bingo with her devoted friend, Nora Dickson.
Anita will be sadly missed by her husband, Roy Gillis; four daughters: Darlene (Darrell) MacDonald of Napan Bay, Penny (Rejean) Hebert of Pointe-Sapin, Patty (Tim) Taylor of Napan and Sandra (Jim) Berscheid of Lincoln, NB; two sons: John (Brenda) Gillis and Kirk (Tanya) Gillis, all of Napan; one son-in-law, Ron Melvin of Napan; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; three sisters: Myrtle Dickson (Erwin) of Napan, Mae Mahar (Tom) of Ontario and Judy Murdock (Percy) of Miramichi; one brother, Donald Parks of Miramichi; one sister-in-law, Marie Parks of Miramichi; and special nephew, Ricky Parks of Moncton. She was predeceased by her parents; daughter, Nancy Melvin; son, Donnie Gillis; six sisters: Treva Matchett, Iva Hamilton, Betty Mutch, Hazel MacDonald, Evelyn Baisley, and Carolyn Parks; and three brothers: Blair, Robert, and Harold Parks.
