In Loving Memory of Arthur Hale Adams

1944 – 2024

Arthur Hale Adams, husband of Lylla (Jardine) Adams of 58 years, passed away at his residence on August 16, 2024, at the age of 79. 

Born in Little Branch, Black River Bridge, NB, on November 22, 1944, Arthur was the son of the late Gordon and Elizabeth (McLeod) Adams.

Arthur left school at the early age of 16 to work as an apprentice at McCarthy’s Sales Ltd. He went on to become a Licensed Autobody, Mechanical and Welding Technician.  Soon after, he became a proud founder and co-owner of Chatham Autobody and Mechanical, dedicating over 50 years in the business. He was a hardworking businessman in the community, where many have benefited from his 24-hour towing services. 

Arthur loved going to his camp where he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and explore the woods. He shared his love of the sport by offering his services to others as a Licensed Bear Hunting Guide.  Above all, he was a generous provider who loved his family dearly.

Arthur is survived by his loving wife, Lylla; daughters:  Marsha Cook (Gary), Tammy McIntyre (Randy), and son, David (Leann) Olsen; brothers:  Brian Adams (Davida), Dennis Adams; sisters:  Eunice Wilcox, Hilda Racco (Ray), Marguerite Barry (Rev. Robert Barry), Norma Mutch (Scott), and Pauline Adams; grandchildren:  Ryan McIntyre (Christine), Hailee Curtis (Riley), Courtney Taite (Josh), Jake Cook (Daryn), Jenna Walsh (Jeremy), and Shana Bouley (Shane); as well as four great-grandchildren.  Arthur is also survived by sisters-in-law: Ann Craig, and Kim O'Brien; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

Besides his parents, Arthur is predeceased by his brothers:  George Adams, Alfred Adams, Jackie Adams, Auley Adams, and Donald Adams; sisters: Christina Adams, and Minnie Simpson; as well as brothers-in-law, Tom Wilcox, and William Simpson. 

Visitation occurred at Adams Funeral Home, 140 King St., Miramichi, on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, from 1-3 PM, followed by a Funeral Service at the Adams Funeral Home Chapel on August 21, 2024, at 3:30 PM, with The Reverend Robert Barry as Officiant. Music for the service was provided by Gary Cook.  The songs included:  "Amazing Grace", "How Great Thy Art", and "Here I Am Lord".  The Eulogy was by Hailee Curtis.  A reading was read by Courtney Taite.  The Active Pallbearers were:  David Olsen, Ryan McIntyre, Jake Cook, Brian Adams, Perley Jardine, and Jacques Hachey.  Interment occurred in the Black River Community Cemetery. 

Special thanks to Dr. Gerard Losier and the staff at the Miramichi Regional Hospital. Thanks also to the health professionals of the New Brunswick Extra-Mural Program, paramedics, and the dedicated caregivers of Parker Home Care.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to Cystic Fibrosis Canada, NB Heart & Stroke, or to a charity of the donor’s choice would greatly be appreciated by the family.
