Bertha I. Paulin
  1929 – 2021

Bertha Ida Paulin, wife of the late Jean Paulin of Miramichi, passed away at her residence surrounded by her loving family on January 31, 2021 at the age of 91.

Born in Saint Athanase, NB, on July 6, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Alban and Delina Richard. She was a Homemaker, and longtime member of St. Michael’s Basilica, and the C.W.L.

Bertha is survived by four daughters: Murielle Phee (late Lester) of Regina, SK, Ginette Garrish (Barry) of Napan, NB, Carole Paulin of Bowell, AB, and Anne Wentzell (Paul) of Fredericton, NB; one son, Ron Paulin (Becky) of Napan, NB; one son-in-law, Andy Lobban of Miramichi; twelve grandchildren: Jacqueline Craig (Doug) of Edmonton, AB, John Garrish (Kristi) of Blackfalds, AB, Dr. Brian Phee (Dr. Alysen) of Regina, SK, Bob Garrish of San Jose, California, Steven Paulin of Moncton, NB, Brent Garrish (Dr. Stephanie Purcell) of Derby, NB, Michael Lobban of Miramichi, NB, Joey Paulin of Napan, NB, Nicole MacIntosh (Grant) of Tantallon, NS, Steven Langille of Calgary, AB, Mark Wentzell of Fredericton, NB and Alex Wentzell (Alexandra Cunningham) of Calgary, AB; thirteen great-grandchildren: Tanner, Ty and Trace MacDonald of Edmonton, AB, AJ, Josh and Charlotte Phee of Regina, SK, Emma, Payton and Deacon Garrish of Blackfalds, AB, Cade and Abby Paulin of Moncton, NB and Rosie and Gwen MacIntosh of Tantallon, NS; special sister-in-law, Argentine Richard of Miramichi, NB; special cousin, Anita Mainville of Bathurst, NB; special friend, Yvonne Richard of Rogersville, NB; godson, Eric Richard of Miramichi; and many nieces and nephews. 

She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Jean Paulin; daughter, Diane Lobban; brothers:  Gerald Richard, and Pierre Desroches (Bernadette).

The family would like to thank all of the Home Care Workers and Extra Mural for taking very good care of Bertha. Your kindness and compassion will never be forgotten. 

There was no visitation by request.  Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Michael’s Basilica on Saturday, July 3, 2021, at 11 AM with Father Paul Doucet as Celebrant.  Music for the service was provided by David Bunnell, and the songs were:  "Like a Shepherd", The Lord is My Shepherd", "Prayer of St. Francis", "Ave Maria", "On Eagle's Wings", and "Into Your Hands".  Scripture readings were read by Nicole MacIntosh, and Steven Paulin.  The eulogy was presented by Paul Wentzell.  The pallbearers were:  Brent Garrish, Michael Lobban, Grant MacIntosh, Joey Paulin, Steven Paulin, Alex Wentzell, and Mark Wentzell.  Interment was held in St. Michael’s Cemetery.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the NB Extra Mural Program, or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
