Carl O. Dickson
1934 – 2022
Carl Orville Dickson, husband of Ponsy (MacDonald) Dickson of Miramichi, NB, passed away at Shannex-Losier Hall, on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at the age of 87.
Born in Napan, NB, on September 17, 1934, he was the son of the late Lorriston and Mildred (McInnis) Dickson. Carl was former co-owner of Chatham Auto Body and Mechanical for numerous years. He was very kind, good natured, and a real “man of the woods”. He loved his family and was very close with them. He was the greatest Dad, Grandfather, and Great-Grandfather. He also had a truly special connection with each one of his siblings, including their spouses. He was Christian by Faith.
Carl is survived by his wife, Ponsy Dickson; two daughters: Joan McCarthy of Miramichi, and Cindy Morrell (Bill) of Ontario; one son, Tony Dickson of Ontario; nine grandchildren: Karrie McCarthy, Zach McCarthy, Kara Lassman, Rick Morrell, Calvin Morrell, Clay Dickson, Jillian Dickson, Carl Dickson Jr., and Cord Dickson; thirteen great-grandchildren; two sisters: Lenore Dunsby, and Iona Taylor, both of Miramichi; four brothers: Roland Dickson (Anna) of Napan, Ken Dickson (Diane) of Miramichi, Blake Dickson (Joyce) of Napan, and Royce Dickson (Terri) of Napan; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; and sister, Erma MacCallum.
A public visitation occurred at Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., Miramichi, NB, on Wednesday April 13, 2022, from 2-4 PM, and 7-9 PM. A public funeral service took place at Adams Funeral Home Chapel, 140 King St., Miramichi, NB, on Thursday April 14, 2022, at 11 AM with Maxine Disher, Alanna MacDonald, and Charles O' Regan as Speakers. Music for the service was provided by Pianist Lorraine Dickson along with congregational hymns: "There Is No Gain But By A Loss" and "Just As I Am". An outdoor hymn was also sung: "Teach Me Thy Way, O Lord". The Honorary Pallbearers were: Roland Dickson, Ken Dickson, Blake Dickson, and Jim MacDonald. The Active Pallbearers were: Dale MacCallum, Bill Morrell, Gerry MacDonald, Clay Dickson, Carl Dickson Jr., and Zach Dickson.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada, Pine Grove Cemetery, or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
