In Loving Memory of Charlene Marie Rutter
1970-2023
It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Charlene’s journey ended on May 19th 2023, at the age of 53, surrounded by the love of her family at her home in Miramichi, New Brunswick.
Born in Kingston, Jamaica on May 3rd, 1970, Charlene was a beacon of love, her light shining so brightly with affection for others. It was a privilege to witness her beauty and grace.
Charlene was a kind and warm person. She was the brightest of lights and was a picture of love and beauty, both inside and out. Charlene was a Compensation Coach with the federal government at the Public Service Pay Center in Miramichi, and was an attendee of St. Michael's Basilica. She left an indelible impression on many people fortunate enough to have known her. Her service extended beyond her professional life, volunteering for Miramichi Big Brothers and Big Sisters, reflecting her true love for people.
Charlene emanated a warmth that was palpable, a steady presence in the lives of those around her. A sweet and genuine person, she had an infectious laugh and a heart as big as her captivating spirit. The legacy she leaves behind is one of love, warmth, and selfless service.
She is survived by her husband and soulmate, Chris Rutter; her mother, Patricia Newman; her father, Reford Williams; one daughter, Brittney Charlton of Miramichi; and three sons, Tristan Charlton of Toronto, Jorden Phillips of Miramichi, and Michael Rutter of Miramichi, all of whom she loved very much. Her loving sisters, Andrea Williams and Venetia Williams, and brothers, Leon Williams and Shay Newman, also mourn her passing. She leaves behind her cherished grandchild, Domenic Bezeau, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and her mother-in-law, Anna Rutter. She was predeceased by her stepmother, Winifred Williams, and her father-in-law, Michael Rutter.
Visitation was held on Sunday, May 28, 2023, from 2 to 4 PM and 7 to 9 PM at Adams Funeral Home, 140 King St. Miramichi, NB. A Mass of Christian Burial for Charlene occurred on Monday, May 29, 2023, at 11 AM from St. Michael's Basilica, 10 Howard St., Miramichi, with The Reverend Dan Bastarache as Celebrant. Music for the service was provided by Jacqueline Allain. The songs included: "All I Ask of You", "Psalm 23", Prayer of St. Francis", "Taste and See", "Be Not Afraid", "Songs of Angels", and "Amazing Grace". Words of remembrance were presented by Kathleen Newman-Bremang. Scripture readings were by Bill Lahey. Prayers of the Faithful were proclaimed by Dan Valin. The Active Pallbearers were: Michael Berube, David Henry, Kwame Newman-Bremang, Samuel Newman-Bremang, Patrick Rutter, and Leon Williams. Interment followed in St. Michael's Cemetery. A reception was then held in the Parish Center of St. Michael's.
In memory of Charlene, donations can be made to Heart and Stroke New Brunswick or the Canadian Cancer Society. As we mourn her passing, we also celebrate the profound impact she had on so many lives. Charlene will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Her light will continue to shine in the many hearts she touched. May we try to follow her example and love and appreciate each other as she has.
