Colleen Ann Patricia (McCluskey) Daley

1938 – 2023

It is with great sadness, we announce the passing of our Mother, Colleen Ann Patricia (McCluskey) Daley, wife of the late Kenneth “Kenny” Daley, who passed away on Friday, October 6th, 2023, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital at the age of 85.

Born in Grand Falls, New Brunswick, on St. Patrick’s Day 1938, she was the daughter of both the late Thomas and Kathleen (O’Keefe) McCluskey. 

Colleen was a beloved Mother to her five children: Susan Warner (Ron) of (Whitby, Ontario), Stephen (Mary) of Whitby, ON, Tim of Toronto, Connie Daley (Scott Leslie) of Miramichi, NB, and Patrick of Fredericton.  She was a precious Grandmother to Marisa, Lauren, Liam, Kate, Emily, Alex, and Andrew; and dear Great-Grandmother to Maeve.  She is also survived by sisters:  Maureen LeBlanc, Sharon Eagon (Dave), and Joanne Glynn; as well as numerous nieces, and nephews.

She was predeceased by both her parents; husband, Kenny; brothers, Terry and Shawn; and sister, Carmel Keoughan.

Colleen was a Lab Technician at the Hotel Dieu Hospital for many years. She served on the local school board, as well as on the local and provincial credit union and hospital boards.  In her younger days, she played basketball and softball.  As an adult, she golfed, bowled, curled and was part of a few card clubs playing Rummoli, Skip-Bo, and Bridge. She was an active member of St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church Parish, a member of the C.W.L. and Parish Council. She was also a “Big Sister”. She had a great sense of community and felt everyone should give back and help others.  She was very proud of her Irish heritage and that love was passed on to her children.   St. Patrick’s Day was celebrated like Christmas, with decorations, music, and rejoicing. 

Visitation occurred at Adams Funeral Home, 140 King St., Miramichi, on Wednesday, October 11th,  2023, from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM.  A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Saint Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, 12 St. Patrick’s Dr., Miramichi, on Thursday, October 12th, 2023, at 11 AM with The Reverend Father Anthony Dass Papu as Celebrant.  Music for the service was provided by Singer/Organist, Jacqueline Allain, and Instrumentalist, Edison Russell/harmonica.  The songs included:  "Like a Shepherd", Be Not Afraid", "I am the Bread of Life", "Amazing Grace" (harmonica), "An Irish Blessing", and "Our Lady of Knock".  The First Scripture Reading was by Colleen M. Daley.  The Second Scripture Reading was by Clara Gallant.  Prayers of the Faithful were by Marisa (Warner) Hosick. The Active Pallbearers were:  Greg Daley, Rick Daley, Brent Daley, Tony Merzetti, Bradley Lynch, and Andrew Leslie.  Interment followed in Saint Patrick’s Roman Catholic Cemetery.  A reception followed in the church basement following the Funeral Mass.

The Daley Family would like to thank their friends and neighbours for their many acts of kindness during Colleen's brief illness and final days.  Your support is greatly appreciated.

As expressions of sympathy, donations made in Colleen’s memory can be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Parish (Saint Patrick’s Renovations Fund/Cemetery Fund), and would be appreciated by the family.
