David W. Godfrey

    1970 – 2021

David William Godfrey of Douglasfield Rd., Miramichi, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, June 22, 2021, at his late residence at the age of 51.

Born in Newcastle, NB on June 15, 1970, he was the son of Halvor Godfrey (Bud) and the late Jean Godfrey.  David enjoyed spending time camping with family and friends.

He was an Economist with Working NB and was in the Miramichi office for 2 ½ years.  Previous to that he worked in Fredericton, NB.

He was a member of St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Growing Miramichi Steering Committee, Mayor’s Welcome BBQ Committee, Miramichi Region Housing Strategy Committee, and Working N.B. Health and Safety Committee.

Besides his father, he is survived by his sister, Shirley Manderson (Tate); sister, Peggy St. Coeur (Weldon); brother, Douglas Godfrey (Cindy); sister-in-law, Lori Robb; also several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his mother, Jean Godfrey; brother, Allen Godfrey; niece, Michelle Godfrey; and nephew, Alexander St. Coeur.

A PUBLIC visitation was held at Adams Funeral Home, 140 King St., Miramichi on Sunday, June 27th from 2-4 PM, and 7-9 PM.  Funeral service was held on Monday, June 28th at 1 PM from St. Paul’s Anglican Church with Rev'd. Perry Cooper officiating, assisted by Rev'd Ted Quann, Rev'd Eddie Quann, Mr. Jim McCallum and Mrs. Holly Gallant.  The music for the service was provided by Mrs. Janet Stothart and St. Paul's Anglican Church Choir.  The hymns were How Great Thou Art", "Here I Am Lord", "The Old Rugged Cross", "Breathe on me, Breath of God" and the recessional hymn was "Amazing Grace".  The eulogy was presented by Randy Urquhart.  Interment was held in St. Paul's Anglican Cemetery.

The pallbearers were Wade St. Coeur, Brian St. Coeur, Michael St. Coeur, Mark Manderson, Andrew Manderson, Tyler Godfrey, Mitchell Godfrey and Justin Robb.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the NB Heart & Stroke Foundation, or St. Paul’s Anglican Cemetery would be appreciated by the family.
