David J. Savoy
1952 – 2022
David James Savoy, husband of Sharon Savoy of Miramichi, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on September 11, 2022, at the age of 70.
Born in Chatham, NB, on July 6, 1952, he was the son of the late Dearborn and Ernestine (Roach) Savoy. He worked for NB Power for his working career. David always loved horses and truly enjoyed giving sleigh rides for many years. He loved being out on the river fishing Gasparo with Paul and Brian and also he fished Salmon with his father and Stephen. He attended St. Andrew’s Roman Catholic Church.
David is survived by his wife, Sharon (Gilliss) Savoy; two daughters: Amy Savoy (Brian) of Black River and Stacey Savoy (Darren) of Bay du Vin; one grandchild, Claire Gulliver; three sisters: Karen Comeau (Ronnie) of Miramichi, Mabel Marsh (David) of Miramichi, and Danna Mott (Earl) of Fredericton; one brother, Billy Savoy (Angie) of Miramichi. He was predeceased by his parents; one sister, Margaret Comeau; one brother, Stephen Savoy.
Visitation occurred on Wednesday evening, September 14, 2022 from 6-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Michael’s Basilica on Thursday, September 15, 2022, at 11 AM, with The Reverend Father Dan Bastarache as Celebrant. Music for the service was provided by Soloist/Guitarist, George Comeau. The songs were: "The River", "Be Not Afraid", "Amazing Grace", "Here I Am Lord", and "The Long Black Train". A eulogy was presented by Stacey Savoy. The First Scripture reading was read by Angie Savoy, and the Second Scripture reading was read by Rose Spray. Prayers of the Faithful were proclaimed by Rose Spray. The Honorary Pallbearers were: Julia Cabel, Evelyn Cavanaugh, Michael Fletcher, Ronnie Fowlie, Ralph Jardine, Ralph Lockerbie, Marcel Manuel, Linda Moar, Cheryl Richard, Jimmy Roach, Earl Sealy, Shirley Sealy, Rose Spray, Keith Summers, Ken Taylor, and Lynn Taylor. The Active Pallbearers were: Ronnie Carter, Donnie Comeau, Larry Cook, Brian Kelly, Paul Kelly, Donnie Traer, Reg Whalen, and Ted Whalen. Interment was in St. Andrew’s Catholic Cemetery, Loggieville.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to St. Andrew’s Catholic Cemetery would be appreciated by the family.
