David H. Gillis

1959 – 2023

David Hartigan Gillis, husband of Linda Gillis of Miramichi, New Brunswick, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on April 11, 2023, at the age of 64.

Born in Dorchester, NB, on February 9, 1959, he was the son of the late David and Frances (Henry) Gillis.  He was Catholic by faith.

He is survived by his wife, Linda (Goguen) Gillis; two sons: Edward Gillis (Ki Wright) of Ottawa, ON and David Gillis of Slave Lake, AB; one granddaughter, Emilia Gillis; two sisters: Theresa Gillis and Sarah MacKenzie (Gary) all of Amherst, NS; as well as nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his parents and sister, Verna.

Visitation occurred at Adams Funeral Home, 140 King St., Miramichi on Monday, April 17, 2023, from 1-3 PM and Mass of Christian Burial to followed at 3 PM from Adams Funeral Home Chapel with The Reverend Father Dan Bastarache as Celebrant.  Music for the service was recorded music and the songs were "Be Not Afraid" by John Michael Talbot, "Psalms 23" by Shane & Shane, and "Amazing Grace" by Allan Jackson.  The scripture readings were read by Paul Duplessie and the Prayers of the Faithful were proclaimed by Paul Duplessie.  Interment will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery later in the spring.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
