It is with heavy hearts that Lynn, Wanda, Betty, Bruce, and Joey announce the passing of their father, Don, on November 21, 2025, at Bridgeview Hall, Miramichi, New Brunswick, at the age of 90.
Born in Chatham, New Brunswick, Don lived his early years in Hardwicke, New Brunswick. He was the son of the late James A. and Merle (MacRae) Gregan.
He leaves behind his partner, Carol Miller of River Charlo, New Brunswick; his children, Lynn Gregan (Loisanne) of Hardwicke, New Brunswick; Wanda Gregan of Miramichi; Betty Gregan of Mount Herbert, Prince Edward Island; Bruce Gregan of Grande Prairie, Alberta (Joanne of River Charlo, New Brunswick); and Joey Gregan (Lyne) of Dalhousie, New Brunswick.
He is also survived by his grandchildren: Matthew (Jenna), twins Jonathan and Jessie, Vanessa (Pascal), Emilie (Noah), twins Christopher and Luna, Abygail, Olivier and Finnley; great-grandchildren: Jase, Lynken, Rory, and Hannah; brothers: Doug (Cheryl) of Hamilton, Ontario, and The Reverend Ivan Gregan of Hardwicke, New Brunswick; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Ruby Gregan; grandson, Christopher Gregan; sister, Jean Williston; and special sister, Doreen Hopkins.
Don was an adherent of Myers United Church in Hardwicke. He was a former manager of the Lounsbury Furniture Store in Dalhousie and dedicated more than 60 years of service to United Commercial Travelers. Throughout his life, he took on many leadership roles and was a past president of the Dalhousie Curling Club, the Dalhousie Legion, the Lions Club, the Rotary Club, Restigouche Crime Stoppers, and CEO of Gregan’s Relief.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at St. Stephen’s United Church, 7970 Route 117, Black River Bridge, New Brunswick. A funeral service followed on Thursday, November 27, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the same location, with The Reverend Charlene Maguire-MacKnight as officiant and The Reverend Ivan Gregan as co-presider. Music for the service was provided by pianist, Barb Somers and fiddler, Jim Morrison, as well as the Loggieville-Black River United Church Joint Choir. The hymns were processional "Come in, Come In and Sit Down", "I, The Lord of Sea and Sky", and "Will Your Anchor Hold". The recessional song was "This World Is Not My Home". The Memory Candle was lit by Matthew Gregan. The Eulogy was by Lynn Gregan. The Active Pallbearers were grandchildren: Matthew, Jesse, Jonathan, Vanessa, Emilie, Christopher, and Luna. The Honorary Pallbearers were Doug Gregan, The Reverend Ivan Gregan, Ernie and Marguerite Richard, James L. Gregan, Joan Blackmore, and Robert and Fran Acheson. All were welcomed to tea and fellowship in the church basement following the funeral. Interment will take place at a later date.
