1950 – 2025
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Donna Mary Conroy announces her peaceful passing at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on June 21, 2025, at the age of 75.
Born in Chatham, New Brunswick, Donna was the daughter of the late James and Mary (Holland) Dignam. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Donna is survived by her devoted son, Mark Conroy (Michelle), and was a proud and loving grandmother to her two grandsons, Jared Conroy and Travis Conroy, who were the light of her life and her greatest source of pride.
Donna is also survived by her sisters, Margaret Whalen (Ron) and Betty McCafferty (Arthur); and her brothers, Edward Dignam (June) and James Dignam (Mary Jane); and a very special nephew, Chris Dignam, whom she was very close to.
She was predeceased by her infant son, Matthew; brothers, Elmer, Raymond, Frank, Jackie (Marilyn), Byron (Eva), and Billy Dignam; and her sisters, Nellie Moran (Benny), Doris Perry (Oscar), Bertie Bright (Fred), Alice Dignam, Gladys Dignam, and Vera Dignam.
Donna spent many years working at Hotel Dieu Hospital, where her kindness and work ethic touched the lives of many. She was also an active member of the Lady’s Auxiliary at Mount St. Joseph in Chatham for many years, dedicating her time and heart to her community.
Donna’s legacy is one of quiet strength and unwavering love for her family. Her warm spirit, strong will, sense of humour, and gentle presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Forever in our hearts, her memory will be cherished always.
As per Donna’s wishes, there was no viewing. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Michael’s Basilica, 10 Howard St., Miramichi, New Brunswick, on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., with The Reverend Father John Fraser as Celebrant. Music for the service was provided by Mr. David Bonnell and St. Michael's Choir and the hymns were "Here I Am Lord", "The Lord Is My Shepherd", "Gentle Woman", "Be Not Afraid", "Songs Of The Angels" and the recessional hymn was "How Great Thou Art". The scripture readings were read by Mary Ann Carroll, and Michelle Dignam. The Prayers of the Faithful were proclaimed by Gilles Daigle.
Interment was in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Miramichi, New Brunswick. The Pallbearer was Chris Dignam and the Honorary Pallbearers were Raymond Dignam, Peter Dignam, Scott Brennan, and Kevin Carroll.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Donna’s memory may be made to the Mount St. Joseph Foundation or a charity of the donor’s choice.
