Edna (Mary) Leslie
1935 - 2020
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our mother, Edna Mary Leslie, at age 84. She died from complications associated with Alzheimer's Disease at Losier Hall in Miramichi, New Brunswick.
Edna will be sadly missed by her sons Keith, Tim and Ed, daughter-in-law Linda, and granddaughter Amanda Coombes. She was pre-deceased by her beloved husband John, and her sisters Evelyn Wilt, Helen Richard and Kitty Russell.
Born in Chatham, N.B., Edna was the daughter of Purcell and Matilda Johnston (Melanson). She worked as a bookkeeper and office manager, and was a community volunteer, starting in Chatham, and for 40 years, in Hamilton, Ont., where the family moved in 1966.
Edna returned to N.B. following John's death in 2010, catching up with old friends and making new ones in the Retirement Miramichi community.
A survivor of multiple cancers, Edna battled hard against what Alzheimer's was doing to her memory. She amazed doctors with her determination to fight a disease that most other victims can't, or won't, even acknowledge.
Quick to laugh, and addicted to Bingo, Edna loved movies, music and most of all, talking, just being with friends and family, cooking them a meal and enjoying their company.
A funeral mass will be held at a later time because of the pandemic.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Society of New Brunswick would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements are entrusted to Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., Miramichi, telephone (506) 773-3492 or messages of condolence may be sent online to www.adamsfh.ca
