There will be a pandemic-delayed funeral Thursday, Aug. 12, 2021, for Edna Mary Leslie, who died of Alzheimer's on July 29, 2020 at Losier Hall in Miramichi, N.B., surrounded by family.
Edna is sadly missed by sons Keith (Linda) and Tim (Maria), granddaughter Amanda Coombes and Nicholas Burns. Her youngest son, Ed, died November 1, 2020. Edna was predeceased by her beloved husband John, and sisters Evelyn Wilt, Helen Richard and Kitty Russell.
Born in Chatham, N.B., to Purcell and Matilda Johnston (Melanson), Edna was an office manager and a community volunteer, in Chatham, and for 40 years in Hamilton, ON, where the family moved in 1966.
Edna returned to N.B. following John's death in 2010, catching up with old friends and making new ones in the Retirement Miramichi community and as a devoted member of St. Michael’s parish.
A funeral mass was held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 12, 2021 at St. Michael's Basilica in Miramichi, N.B with Father Dan Bastarache as Celebrant. The scripture readings were read by Kristy Richard and Mary Leslie. The prayers of the faithful were lead by Kathy LeBlanc. Interment was held in St. Michael's Cemetery.
