Edna G. Stewart
1946 – 2021
It is with great sadness that the family announce the death of Edna Gale Stewart who passed away suddenly in her home on Sunday September 12th at the age of 75. She was born in Newcastle on April 27, 1946 to Bernice Embree Stewart (Russel) of Nordin and George Perley Stewart of Chatham. She is survived by her three children, Jennifer Valin of Newcastle, Monica Russett of Ottawa, and Dan Valin of Fredericton. She is also survived by her sister Jeannie Stewart of Aerdrie Alberta and brothers Donnie, Ricky and Mark Stewart of Miramichi. She also leaves behind her dear grandchildren Cameron Russett of Ottawa and Lauren Poirier of Miramichi.
Her death was predeceased by her mother Bernice and her father George, her brothers, Darryl, Wayne, Gary and her sister Karen.
Edna found lifetime friends at the Miramichi Bowlarama where she also worked and was a competitive championship bowler. She also worked at Shoppers Drug Mart in Northumberland Mall for many years. She was a two-time breast cancer survivor and was immensely proud of her children and grandchildren who she loved to the moon and back. Edna loved the arts and was a supporter of local theatre and music, especially her time as a volunteer for Characters Incorporated.
Edna also leaves behind her dear friend Teresa Adams who was instrumental in allowing her to remain independent as her health and mobility declined.
A visitation was held at Adams Funeral Home, 140 King St., Miramichi on Friday, September 17th from 2-3 PM and a funeral service followed at 3 PM from Adams Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charlene Maguire MacKnight as Officiant. Music for the service was recorded music and included songs: "I Have a Dream" by Nana Mouskouri, and "Fare Thee Well, Love" by The Rankins. Scripture readings were by Sue Butler, and Sarah Stewart.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the New Brunswick Lung Association would be appreciated by the family.
