In Loving Memory of Etta McCallum, RN

1933 – 2024

Etta Frances McCallum, RN, of Miramichi, NB, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on October 6, 2024, at the age of 91.

Born in Douglasfield, NB, on August 25, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mildred (Gerish) Trevors.  Etta was a Registered Nurse who worked in the ER Department at the Newcastle Hospital, and then retired from the Miramichi Regional Hospital.  She was a member of St. Paul’s Anglican Church.

Etta is survived by her husband, George McCallum; two daughters: Sharon McFarlane (Clayton) of Fort McMurray, AB, and Sandra Stewart (Kevin) of Ennismore, ON; two sons: James McCallum, and Trevor McCallum (Angie) of Miramichi; one sister, Gloria Heiduk (Larry) of Huntsville, ON; eight grandchildren: Shanna, Brittni, Rachel, Erika, Emily, Lindsey, Kendra, and Isabella; six great-grandchildren: Kinnon, Kyah, Tristan, Lydia, Caleb, and Myles; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  She was predeceased by her parents; sister, Lillian; brothers: Benson, Herb, Theodore, Owen, and Gary.

Visitation occurred at Adams Funeral Home, 140 King St., Miramichi, on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, from 2-4 PM, and 7-9 PM.  A Funeral Service occurred at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, 750 Water St., Miramichi, on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at 2 PM, with The Reverend Canon Sandy MacPherson, The Reverend Deacon Eddie Quann, and The Reverend Deacon Ted Quann as Officiants.  The Layreader was Holly Gallant.  Music for the service was provided by Organist, Dinah Horsman, the Church Choir, and Soloist, Elizabeth Shatford. The hymns were:  "Amazing Grace",  How Great Thou Art" and "In the Garden".  Memories were shared by son, James McCallum.  Scripture readings were read by grandchildren:  Emily Stewart, Kendra McCallum, and Lindsey Stewart.  The Miramichi Retired Nurses formed a large Guard of Honour.  Interment followed in St. Paul’s Anglican Cemetery.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Canadian Cancer Society, MS Canada, or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
