It is with great sadness, but with gratitude for her love and life, we announce the passing of Evelyn Josephine Taylor of Napan, New Brunswick, who passed away at her home surrounded by the love of her family on March 14, 2024, in her 78th year.

Born in Chatham, NB, on May 28, 1946, Evelyn Josephine Taylor (Dickson) was the daughter of the late Earl and Josephine Dickson. Evelyn was a beloved Wife, Mother, Nana, Cousin and Friend.  Her family meant everything to her. She kept close and loving relationships with each of her children and grandchildren. She was a faithful member and Elder of Carmel United Church in which she was a former Administrative Secretary for 40 years. She was also a United Church Licensed Lay Worship Leader, and would never hesitate to help with meaningful coverage for a Minister, or when family or friends requested her ministry leadership for a funeral.  She believed in volunteering her help whenever she was able to within the community, and was a special Advocate and Friend of Hospice Miramichi.  Her kind, caring and compassionate personality made her a true and valued Elder and she will be missed by the many who were touched by the ministry of her love.

Evelyn is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years, Blake Taylor; cherished daughters, Kimberly Taylor-Sobczyk (Tony) of Woodstock, ON, Beverly Taylor Bell (Alvin) of South Esk, NB, and Elaine Taylor O’Donnell (Eamon) of Hamilton, ON; six grandchildren whom she adored: Riley, Taylor, Maddie, Georgia, Carter, and Josephine. Evelyn is also survived by and will be missed by her faithful fur companion, Zoey. Evelyn was an only-child, and was predeceased by her parents.

Visitation was held at Adams Funeral Home, 140 King St., Miramichi, on Sunday, March 17, 2024, from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM.  A Funeral Service was held on Monday, March 18, 2024, at 1 PM, from Carmel United Church, 795 South Napan Rd., Napan, NB, with The Reverend David Allan as Officiant.  Music Ministry was provided by David Mann, Al Fraser, and the Loggieville-Black River Joint Choir.  The entrance hymn was "Jesus, You Have Come to the Lakeshore.  Additional songs included:  "What a Friend We Have in Jesus", "Cabin in the Hills", with the recessional being "Life's Railway to Heaven".  A Memorial Candle was lit by Evelyn's grandchildren.  The Eulogy was by Beverly Taylor Bell.  The Psalm reading was by Kimberly Taylor-Sobczyk.  The Active Pallbearers were:  Alvin Bell, Carter Bell, Eamon O'Donnell, Riley Sobczyk, Taylor Sobczyk, and Tony Sobczyk.  The Honorary Pallbearers were:  John Dickson, Bonnie Godfrey, Dawn Holland, and Harriet MacNaughton. Both the Honorary Pallbearers and "The Friday Executive Lunch Club" special group formed a Guard of Honour.  A reception was held following the funeral welcoming all in the church basement.  Interment will be held at a later date in the Black River Community Cemetery.
