After a lengthy illness, Everette Patrick Roy of Miramichi, NB, passed away peacefully and graciously with love and appreciation of a life well-lived, with his wife Mary by his side. His passing occurred at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on December 26, 2022. He was 65 years old.

Born in Newcastle, NB, on April 25, 1957, Everette was the son of Julia (Foley) Roy Williston and the late Leo Roy. Prior to his father Leo’s death in the Escuminac Disaster, Everette, together with his parents, lived with Hilda and Clancy O’Donnell in Lower Derby and Red Bank. He was a Landscape Laborer for over 30 years. He was also a member of St. Michael’s Basilica and a proud and dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus Branch #1219 Father Broderick Council. Everette was a very kind and loving person who faced his challenges courageously, valiantly, and always with optimism.

Everette is survived by his wife, Mary Roberta (Dennis) Roy; his mother, Julia Williston; sisters: Frances Devost-Cormier (Pete), Brenda Desmond (Tim), Cindy Kingston, Vesta McGowan (Andrew); brothers: Oswald (Ossie) Williston (Donna), Elliot Williston (Kim), and Grant Williston (Michelle). He is also survived by his brothers-in-law: Michael Dennis and Greg Dennis (Kelly); and several aunts; nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Everette was predeceased by his father, Leo Roy; step-father, Wendell Williston; brothers: Randy Williston and Baby Williston; grandparents, Patrick and Frances Foley; chosen grandparents, Hilda and Clancy O’Donnell; and brother-in-Law, Leon Kingston.

Visitation occurred at Adams Funeral Home, 140 King Street, Miramichi, on Friday, January 6, 2023, from 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Michael’s Basilica on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at 11 AM with The Reverend Father Dan Bastarache as Celebrant. Music for the service was provided by Norma A. Sugden and the St. Michael the Archangel Parish Choir.  The Choir Director was Dawn Patterson.  The entrance hymn was "Seek Ye First".  Following hymns included:  "I, The Lord" with violin accompaniment by Jack Richard, "Amazing Grace", and "Song of the Angels".  The recessional hymn was "Be Not Afraid".  The First Reading was by Sarah Desmond (niece), and the Second Reading was by Stacey Jenkins (friend).  Prayers of the Faithful were proclaimed by Stacey Jenkins.  The Pallbearers were:  Greg Dennis, Tyler Dennis, Justin Poirier, Wayne MacDonald, Tim Desmond, and Blake Johnston.  Interment will occur later in the spring at St. Michael’s Cemetery.

The family of the late Everette Roy wishes to convey their sincere gratitude to Dr. Gerard Losier and the Staff of 3 East, Miramichi Regional Hospital for their wonderful care they so lovingly provided.

As expressions of sympathy, Mass Cards, donations to St. Michael’s Basilica’s St. Vincent de Paul, Miramichi SPCA, Diabetes Canada, or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
