In Loving Memory of Fernand Poitras

1944 – 2025

Fernand Joseph Poitras of Miramichi, New Brunswick, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on February 12, 2025, at the age of 80.

Born in Drummond, New Brunswick, on March 31, 1944, he was the son of the late Martin and Doris (Levesque) Poitras.

Fernand is survived by his one miracle, his daughter, Rosalie Poitras (Otis) of Miramichi; mother of their daughter, wife, long-time partner, and best friend, Mary Myles of Miramichi; grandson, Alex (Kayla) and their son Keegan; granddaughters: Kayla and Emily; grandson, Sean; and granddaughter, Hailey; two brothers: John Poitras (Sandy) of Mexico, and Adrian Poitras (late Deborah) of Montreal; as well as several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his parents, brothers: Gerald (Linda), and Reid (Helena), and mother-in-law, Margaret Myles.

He was always happy, constantly had a smile on his face, and was able to make others around him smile. He was an avid dart player, loved the outdoors, and always enjoyed tinkering with something, but most of all he loved his family and spent all the time he could with them. 

As per Fernand’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral service.  Interment will be held at a later date.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #3, New Brunswick Alzheimer’s Society or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
