In Loving Memory of Flora E. Green

1928 – 2023

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Flora Eileen (Kingston) Green, wife of the late Gerald Green Sr., announce her passing at the age of 94, which occurred on Monday, May 23rd after a brief illness at the Miramichi Regional Hospital.  Born in Bay du Vin NB on July 19, 1928, Flora was the daughter of the late Eliza (Dutcher) and Thomas Kingston.  As the last surviving immediate member from her family of ten, Flora was adored by her extended Kingston clan.

Flo met her husband, Gerry Sr., while stationed in France as a Corporal in the Air Force before moving to Comox BC, Winnipeg MAN, and retiring back to CFB Chatham. After starting their family, she transitioned into civilian life, working for Jostens while in Winnipeg.

During the summer months, Flo enjoyed spending her time at the cottage on Hortons Creek. In her favorite chair looking over the bay, there was nothing she enjoyed more than having family and friends drop in for a visit. Flo always looked forward to her Sunday Bingo at the Exhibition.  She loved watching Curling, Price is Right, Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, her Soap Operas, and especially ‘Seinfeld’ - she knew every episode and could recite them all by line.   Flo was Anglican by Faith.

Flo is survived by her loving children:  daughters, Brenda Green-Kennedy, of Miramichi, and Sharon Green of Dartmouth NS; and son, Gerry Green Jr. (Connie) of Miramichi; four grandchildren, Andrew, Scott (Jackie), Evan, and Lauren; two great-grandchildren Mila and Madison; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and her feline companion, Jenny.

She was predeceased by her husband, Gerald Green Sr. (2012), and her sons-in-law, Bert Kennedy (2022), and Joseph Martinez (2023).

Flo’s family would like to express their sincere thanks to the Extra Mural staff and Nurse Rhonda who took exceptional care of Flo over the years; Dr. Gerard Losier; Colleen Reinsborough and the staff of the Intensive Care Unit; as well as the staff of the Emergency Room and Palliative Care.

By her request, there was no visitation.  A funeral service was held from St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church in Bay du Vin on Wednesday, May 31st, 2023, at 2 PM with The Reverend Thomas W.L. Nisbett as Officiant.  Music for the service was provided by Organist, Dawn Bell.  The hymns were:  "Amazing Grace", and "Abide with Me".  A special song "Sonny's Dream" was sung by Evan Toth-Martinez on the ukulele.  Memories of Flora were shared by Lauren Green and Gerry Green. Scripture readings were read by Geraldine Botterill, and Claudia Kingston. The Pallbearers were:  Albert Harper, Earl Kingston, Eric Kingston, Marty Kingston, Owen Kingston, and Thomas Kingston.  Interment was in St. John the Evangelist Anglican Cemetery.  A light lunch followed in the basement of the church.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Miramichi SPCA would be appreciated by the family.
