Francis Joseph Duplessis died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Friday, May 21st, 2021, at his home in Orangeville, Ontario. He was 79 years of age. Francis, a former resident of Baie-Ste-Anne, was the son of the late Octave and Marie Duplessis. He will be lovingly missed by his wife, Lyla (Walsh) Duplessis of Orangeville, his son, Scott Duplessis of Vancouver, daughter, Wendy (Joe) Arteaga of Aurora, Ontario and his cherished grandchildren, Amanda and Joshua Arteaga. He also leaves to mourn his four sisters, Zelia (late Jim) McIntyre, Carmel (late Adolphe) Savoie, Aline (Therence) Manuel and Pat (Edmond) Manuel, his three brothers, Stanley, Ronald (Adeline) and Paul (Linda), as well as his mother-in-law, Mary Walsh, all of Baie-Ste-Anne. He will also be missed by his many extended relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Francis was predeceased by his sister Rita (late Laureat) Schofield.
Although Francis spent virtually all of his working life in Ontario, he was a true rural Maritimer at heart. Following retirement, he cherished spending his summers in his childhood community of Baie-Ste-Anne. Above all else, Francis was a family man, - his wife, kids, and grandkids were his life and meant the world to him. He will be greatly missed.
A Funeral Mass took place at St. Anne's Catholic Church, Baie-Sainte-Anne, NB on Saturday, August 7, 2021, at 11 AM with Father Bernard as Celebrant. Interment followed in the Sainte-Anne Catholic Cemetery. For those who wish, memorial donations to the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, Toronto, would be appreciated by the family.
