Francis "Frank" E. Kane Obituary

In Loving Memory of Frank E. Kane

1932 – 2025

It is with heavy hearts we announce that Frank E. Kane’s journey here on earth has ended and he now rests peacefully in the arms of the Lord.

Francis Edward “Frank” Kane born on August 4, 1932, in Chatham, New Brunswick, passed away peacefully surrounded by love and family at Percy’s Place Hospice Miramichi, on November 16th, 2025.

Frank will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Carole (Searle) of Miramichi, with whom he shared 67 beautiful years of marriage; his daughters, Mary Theresa Waycott (Jamie) of St. Stephen, Cathy Casswell (John) of Miramichi, and Deborah Hill (Paul) of Miramichi; his sister, Agnes Dufour (Claude) of Ottawa; and his cherished granddaughters, Taylor (Matthew), Katie (Vincent), Allyson (Jamie), and Sarah (Kyle); along with his three great-grandsons, Walker, Samuel, and Anderson; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He has been reunited with his parents, Andrew and Alice (King); brothers, James, Reginald, and Pelham; and sister, Josephine (Shanahan).

Frank lived a life marked by humor, faith, compassion and dedication to his beloved Miramichi. A hardworking man with a nurturing heart, whose generosity knew no bounds. He built a respected career as both an insurance agent and politician serving his community with integrity and care. He served as a member of the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick for the Liberal Party from 1969 to 1982.

Outside of work, Frank’s greatest joys were found in simple pleasures; tending to his prized garden, playing hockey, baseball, and spending time with his family and friends. Frank was inducted into the Miramichi Sports Wall of Fame in 1993, for his outstanding contributions to the Miramichi Beavers Hockey team of the 50’s-60s, and to the Men of Iron (now Miramichi Ironmen) of the 1940’s-50’s. Frank also served on the Board for the Miramichi Senior’s Home, and was devout in his faith as a member of St. Michael’s Basilica.

Frank’s life was one of love, laughter and service. His quick wit, kind nature, and steady presence will be remembered by all who knew him.
