In Loving Memory of Francis Murphy
1945 – 2026
Francis Joseph Murphy of Miramichi, New Brunswick, passed away at Percy’s Place, on April 28, 2026, at the age of 80 years.
Born in Chatham, New Brunswick on September 12, 1945, he was the son of the late Herman and Deanna (Allain) Murphy. Francis was a plumber and pipefitter for over 50 years. He was a member of St. Michael’s Basilica.
Francis is survived by his wife, Wilma Murphy; daughter, Shelley Poirier; step-daughters, Cindy Murphy and Amy Stanaway; sons, Mark Murphy and Louis Murphy; grandchildren: Katelyn, Marcel, Tiffany, Jeffery, Aleena, and Reed; great-grandson, Gabriel; two sisters, Joanne Trevors (Ronnie) and Sandra McKay (John); and brother, James Murphy (Margaret-Rose); as well as nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; and two sisters, Marcella and Barbara Murphy.
As per Francis’s request, there was no visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Michael’s Basilica, 10 Howard Street, Miramichi, New Brunswick, on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., with the Reverend Father John Fraser as celebrant. Music for the service was provided by Lois MacKinnon and St. Michael's Choir and the hymns were "Be Not Afraid", "The Lord Is My Shepherd", "Here I Am Lord", "Lord Make Me A Means Of Your Peace", "Songs Of The Angels" and "Amazing Grace". Interment was held in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Miramichi, New Brunswick.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to Percy’s Place would be appreciated by the family.
