It is with sadness the family announces that the death of Frederick Matchett occurred on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 in Saskatoon, SK with family by his side.

Fred is survived by his loving spouse Joan, his son Aaron and his daughter Andrea, his sisters Sandra Faye Matchett of Miramichi, New Brunswick and Nancy Horne and brother-in-law David Horne of Halifax, Nova Scotia. He is also survived by special cousin Susan Mather of Miramichi, NB. He was predeceased by his parents Leslie and Catherine Matchett, sister Heather Matchett in infancy, in Miramichi, NB and in-laws Jim and Gladys Martin of Wilkie, SK.

Fred was born in Miramichi, NB (formerly Chatham NB) and attended Harkins Elementary and High School. Upon completion of High School in 1965, he was employed with the New Brunswick Telephone Company and Irving Oil Company. He was then accepted into the Royal Canadian Mounted Police on March 24, 1971. He retired from the R.C.M.P. on October 26, 2005. Fred and Joan were married on May 4, 1974 in Wilkie, Saskatchewan. Fred convocated from the University of Saskatchewan in May 1993.

Growing up, Fred was a member of St. Paul's Anglican Church.
