It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Frederick "Fred" White, age 77, of Loggieville, Miramichi. Fred passed away peacefully, surrounded by his "girls", at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on Sunday, December 5th, 2021.
Born in Stephenville, NL, on June 25th, 1944, he was the son of the late Kathleen (White) and the late John Maurice White.
Former husband and cherished friend of Elsie White. Loving father of Lori Braun (Chris) and granddaughter Alora Braun of Calgary; Crystal Saulnier (Michael) and grandsons Ryan and Jacob Saulnier of Quispamsis; Roberta Childs and grandson Ryan Childs and granddaughter Robyn Childs, and his eleven great-grandchildren, of Stephenville.
He is also survived by his sisters and brothers: Edna (Fred) Hale, Phyllis (Clayton) Morgan, Gervase (Dale) White, Bernard (Melinda) White, Linda (Rick) Kendell, Greg White, Brian White, Alice (Shaun) Gillis, Doreen (Paul) Perrier, Hilda (Robert) Jesso and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his brothers: Gerald White, Percy (Rose) White, and his sister, Zita (Mike) Gabriel.
Fred proudly served in the Canadian Armed Forces for 32 years. An adventurous spirit, he travelled the world, both with the military and later with his family. He travelled extensively through North America, Europe, and Australia. He was a rare combination of someone who had a love of travel and adventure, and a firm understanding of what was important—the simplicity of living life with those you love.
Fred retired in the Miramichi, to be close to friends and to take advantage of the best salmon fishing in the world. Having grown up the eldest boy in a large family, Fred knew how to hunt, snare, and fish. He had a deep respect and love of nature and the outdoors.
Fred lived a full life and will be fondly remembered for his tireless love and devotion to his family and friends. Beloved father and proud grandfather, he exemplified strong values and strength of character. He had a life-long love affair with lobster, Vienna sausages, and ketchup (which he put on everything).
Rest in peace Dad, we will love you forever.
Due to the Covid-19 restrictions, a celebration of Fred's life will take place in Stephenville, NL, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that you do an unexpected and unsolicited act of kindness in his memory.
Arrangements are entrusted to Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., Miramichi, telephone (506) 773-3492, or messages of condolence may be sent online to www.adamsfh.ca
