In Loving Memory of George M. Foran

1950 – 2023

George Michael Foran, husband of Donna (Weeks) Foran of Miramichi, passed away peacefully at his residence on August 22, 2023, at the age of 72.

Born in Newcastle on December 14, 1950, he was the son of the late William and Patricia (Dunn) Foran.  George worked as an Insurance Agent with Metropolitan Life Insurance and then later with Sunlife Insurance for over 25 years.  After retirement he worked as an associate at Kent Building Supplies for 10 years.  There he immensely enjoyed working with a close-knit team of co-workers and interacting with the public.  He was also a former member of the Kinsmen Club in Newcastle. 

George enjoyed many of the simple pleasures in life; going for walks, reading a good book, watching a classic movie, and dancing to some good old music.  A dedicated family man, George would do anything in his power for his loved ones and his greatest joy was his grandson, Beckett.  George’s love knew no boundaries and his loved ones will feel his absence always.

George is survived by his wife, Donna (Weeks) Foran; one daughter, Rebecca Foran-Fraser (Mitchell) of Saint John; one son, Sean Foran (Megan) of Miramichi; one grandson, Beckett Fraser; one sister, Karen Girouard (Ronnie) of Miramichi; two brothers: Larry Foran (Judy) of Halifax, NS, and Bill Foran (Judy) of Miramichi; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Karen Stevens (Alan) of Miramichi and sister-in-law, Janie O"Brien of Miramichi as well as many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his parents; one sister, Patsy; and three brothers: Terry, Ronnie and Charlie.

Visitation was held at Adams Funeral Home, 140 King St., Miramichi on Monday, August 28, 2023, from 4-8 PM.  A Funeral Service was held at Adams Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at 11 AM with The Reverend Charlene Maguire MacKnight as Officiant. Music for the service was provided by Lynn Doyle and Carmel McTavish.  The hymns included entrance song "Be Not Afraid", "The Lord is my Shepherd", "Till We Meet Again", with the recessional hymn being "Here I am, Lord".  Words of Remembrance were written by Donna Foran. The First Scripture reading was read by Mitchell Fraser", and the Second Scripture reading was read by Megan Keating.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Miramichi Community Food Bank or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
