In Loving Memory of Gerald A. Jenkins
1927 – 2024
Gerald Aloysius Jenkins, husband of Isabel Jenkins of Hardwicke, NB, passed away at Hospice Miramichi on April 15, 2024, at the age of 96.
Born in Eel River, NB, on July 18, 1927, he was the son of the late David and Janet Jenkins. Gerald was a General Contractor in Ontario for many years. He was very active in service with the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship International and Prison Ministry in Ontario. His whole life was centered around Christian activities. After returning to New Brunswick, he attended St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Miramichi.
Gerald is survived by his wife, Isabel Jenkins; daughter, Cheryl MacPherson (Robert) of Mississauga, ON; son, Allen Jenkins (Linda) of Stouffville, ON; step-daughter, Sara Freeman; and step-son, Robin Freeman, all of Brampton, ON; ten grandchildren: Ian, Kevin, Bryan, Meagan, Rebecca, Spencer, Joryc, Brooklyn, Jayme and Makenzie; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Carmel Fraser of Alberta; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his parents; two baby brothers: Wayne and David, grandson, Robin Freeman, three sisters: Mona Foran, Bernetta Lloyd and Patricia Paulo.
Visitation was held at Adams Funeral Home, 140 King St., Miramichi, on Monday, April 22, 2024, from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. Funeral service was held at St. Mary’s Anglican Church, 207 Wellington St., Miramichi, on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at 11 AM, with The Venerable Perry Cooper as Rector, and The Reverend Sandy MacPherson as Presider. Music for the service was by provided by Claire Fracker and Friends. The entrance hymn was "Amazing Grace", followed by "I Come to the Garden", "Breath on me Breathe of God", "It is Well with my Soul", with the recessional hymn being "Thank You Lord for your Blessings on Me". Tributes were lovingly expressed by son, Allen Jenkins; daughter, Cheryl MacPherson; granddaughter, Brooklyn; and wife, Isabel. A reception for all followed in the Church Hall. Interment will be in St. John the Evangelist Anglican Cemetery, Bay du Vin later in the spring.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to Miramichi Food Bank, Hospice Miramichi, Village of Hope in Upper Tracy, NB, or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
