Gerald T. Cameron Obituary

In Loving Memory of Gerald T. Cameron

January 25, 1936 – May 21, 2024

It is with great sadness that the family of Gerald Thomas Cameron announce his passing on May 21, 2024, at Percy’s Place at the age of 88.

Born in Bridgewater, NS, on January 25, 1936, he was the son of Dougald Cameron and Alice Clark.

Gerald is survived by his daughter, Tammy Miller (Jason) and their sons Bailey and Kody of Fredericton; his sister, Janet McKenna and brother, Father Charles Cameron, both of Antigonish, NS; sisters-in-law: Emily Cameron of Amherst, NS, Annetta Cripps of Bedford, NS and Nancy Cripps of Miramichi; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  He was predeceased by his parents; his loving wife Gladys Cameron; brothers: James and William; and his in-laws: Catherine Johnson, Edith Ramsay, Joseph Cripps, Gertrude Ryan, Henry Cripps, Kenneth Cripps, Grace Marsh, Claire Cameron, Donald Ryan, Ross Johnson, Walter Ramsay and William Marsh.

As a young man Gerald joined the R.C.A.F. serving for 23 years throughout Canada, Europe, Egypt and Cyprus and then retiring in 1981.  He then joined the Department of Natural Resources until his retirement.

Gerald will be remembered for his gentle and loving outreach to all, his “God Bless” and “God Love You”, blessing so many.  For years he loved his garden and he and Gladys enjoyed sharing its vegetables and the abundant raspberries with friends.  He was grateful for his close friends who helped and assisted him at any time he needed.  He had a very special place in his heart for his chosen son Percy Marsh and wife Lynda who were so dedicated in caring for him at home, especially during these past 3 years, and along with Tammy during the difficult days in hospital and at Percy’s Place.  A special thanks to the doctors and nurses at the hospital and Dr. Losier and the exceptional nursing staff at Percy’s Place (Stuart, Patricia, AJ, Alaura, Tina, Tracy, Mae, and Carli and also Jeannie) for the delicious meals.

Visitation was held at Adams Funeral Home, 140 King St., Miramichi on Sunday, May 26, 2024, from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM.  Mass of Christian Burial was Celebrated at St. Michael’s Basilica, 10 Howard St., Miramichi, on Monday, May 27, 2024, at 11 AM with The Reverend Father Charles Cameron as Celebrant.  Music for the service was provided by Mr. David Bunnell and the hymns were "Here, I Am Lord", "The Lord Is My Shepherd", "Amazing Grace", "On Eagle's Wings", "Songs Of The Angels" and "How Great Thou Art".  The scripture readings were read by Nancy Cripps and the Prayers of the Faithful were proclaimed by Nancy Cripps.  The pallbearers were Gary Bateman, Bailey Miller, Kody Miller, Jason Miller, Chuck McKenna and William "Bill" Cameron.   Interment was in St. Michael’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Percy’s Place, or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Arrangements were entrusted to Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., Miramichi, NB; telephone (506) 773-3492.  Additionally, messages of condolence may be shared online at www.adamsfh.ca
