In Loving Memory of Helen M. Dempsey

1944 - 2023

Helen Mary Dempsey, wife of the late Robert “Bob” Dempsey of Miramichi, New Brunswick, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on April 23, 2023, at the age of 78.

Born in Chatham, NB, on December 19, 1944, she was the daughter of the late William E. and Della (Thibault) Ashford.  Helen was a labourer during her working career until retirement.  She loved and enjoyed attending Family Worship Center in Miramichi.

Helen is survived by her daughter, Deborah Dempsey of Miramichi; son, Rob Dempsey (Kari) of Miramichi; grandchildren: Lincoln Dempsey and Jordan Kingston (Nikki); sister, Grace Morehouse of Bangor, Maine; brother, Merrill Ashford of Havelock, Ontario; sisters-in-law: Shirley, Margie and Helen Ashford all of Miramichi; as well as many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her parents William E. and Della Ashford; husband, Robert “Bob” Dempsey; sister, Marie Curtis; and brothers: Bubs, Leonard, James and Sterling Ashford.

Visitation occurred at Family Worship Center, 1148 King George Hwy, Miramichi on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.  A funeral service was held at Family Worship Center on Thursday, April 27, 2023, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Theo Craig officiating.  Music for the service was provided by Mrs. Cheryl Craig and the hymns were "The Old Rugged Cross", "In The Sweet By & By" and "What A Day That Will Be" sung by the congregation.  Also Pam Trayler sung "Hold On" and "Sheltered In The Arms Of God" and Pastor Brent Carter gave some remarks and then sung "He Will Take Me By The Hand, By & By".  Scripture reading was read by Pastor Victor Somers.  A poem was read by granddaughter Lincoln Dempsey and some remembrances were given by Deborah and Rob Dempsey.

Pallbearers were Darlene Simpson, Jordan Kingston, Nikki Kingston, Talmadge Courney, Joey Trayler and Mike Matchett.  Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery later in the spring.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Family Worship Center would be appreciated by the family.
