Hilda Marion Stone

1930 – 2021

Hilda Marion Stone (Dolly) nee Cole, wife of the late Robert William Mackenzie Stone, passed away peacefully at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on Friday 6 August 2021, at the age of 91.

She was born in Lewisporte, Newfoundland, on 11 March 1930 to Thomas Cole (1902-1971) and Hilda Beatrice Cole (1902-1975) of Newfoundland, and is survived by sister, Wavie (Gerry), and predeceased by sisters:  Myrtle, and June; and brother, Arthur.

Marion is survived by her daughter, Kim Bagnell (Ken), of Miramichi, NB; grandson, James Dean (Caroline); and great-grandchildren:  Lucas and Vera; grandson, Ryan Dean (Mallory); and great-grandchildren: Penny and Levi.

Marion is survived by her son, Brian Stone (Sandy), of St. Johns, NL; granddaughter, Heather Lowery (Josh); great-grandchild, Owen; and grandson, Adam Stone (Leanne).

Marion is survived by her son, Gary Stone (Barb), of Toronto, ON; granddaughter, Kerilee Stone (Chris); and grandson, Kevin Stone.

Marion is survived by her son, Doug Stone (Cindy), of Radium Hot Springs, BC, and grandsons:  Alex Stone and Chris Stone.

Marion was predeceased by her husband, Robert (Bob) Stone (1928-2014); son, Robert John Stone (1958-2014), survived by his wife Terry Stone; and granddaughter, Stefanie Stone (Johnny); and son, David Thomas Cole (1952-2012).

Marion’s military family lived in Gander, NL, Vancouver, BC,  Foymount ON, Holberg, BC, Duluth, MN, USA and North Bay, ON.  After her husband Bob’s retirement they moved to Calgary, AB.   Many winters were spent in Florida and Arizona. After 61 years of marriage and Bob’s death, Marion moved to Miramichi, NB, in 2015.

Marion enjoyed many activities, golfing, bowling, bridge, Newfie bingo, crib, shopping, bingo and visiting casinos.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Dr. Mohammad Miah, Dr. Shantel Bekker, Dr. Melissa McQuad, and the Miramichi Hospital Staff.

Marion will be missed by many family and friends.

Marion’s Celebration of Life will be held at Adams Funeral Home, 140 King Street, Miramichi, on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, from 2-4 PM.
