Isabel Josephine Voutour Obituary

In Loving Memory of Isabel Josephine Voutour

1939 – 2024

Isabel Josephine (Murdock) Voutour, wife of the late Frank Voutour of Miramichi, NB, passed away at Percy’s Place, Miramichi, NB, on June 21st, 2024, at the age of 85.

Born in Loggieville, NB, on February 28th, 1939, Isabel Josephine Voutour was the daughter of the late Wilbur Murdock and Susan (Flaherty) Murdock.

Our Mother “Izzy” was one of the finest.  She was so kind to everyone.  She opened her doors for anyone.  She welcomed everyone.  Mom was a person to share, lend, and feed anyone she thought might need it or be hungry.  Anytime of the day, whether it was at 1 PM, 8 PM, or 1 AM, she would jump up and cook anything she had.  She gave more than she really had to give, but she gave it!

“Mom”, “Mommy”, “Mamma”, or “Isi” she was called.  She enjoyed playing cards. Crazy Eights was her game of choice, and she was hard to beat.  Her and her sister, Anna passed many hours playing and laughing.  She loved it!

Mom and Dad were always happy to see anyone coming through the door with such enthusiasm.  They loved company.

Mom travelled a lot through the years with our Dad, visiting Germany to visit with their daughter, Tammy and family who resided there.  Tammy knew a lot of history, so they enjoyed learning from her.  They loved spending time with them.  They also travelled with our brother, Greg, and his wife, Sabrina.  They had great times travelling with them.  Lots of laughs all the time.  Mom saw a lot in her travels, and she enjoyed every moment of it.  Mom was a frequent visitor to her son Paul’s place, visiting him and his wife, Cathy.  They were always happy to see Mom and she brought lots to talk about.  She would bring in treats and news to share.

Her daughter Theresa cared for her Mother the last couple of years, with such love for her Mother, and her husband, Darrell always a helping hand.

Mom was a Homemaker, hard-working, maintaining an immaculate house, cooking and keeping us healthy. In later years, she stood and worked hard with our dad through the vegetable business.  Our Mother would stop by elderly people’s homes and visit with them and would sit with them and they looked forward to seeing her.  She didn’t just drop in once, but every so often.  She would say “they don’t get much company, so I like to visit with them every so often.”

Our Mother had a big heart.  The biggest!  She had a good sense of humour and she was always trying to make us laugh with her dry humour.  Our Mother will be missed beyond what we can imagine.  We will be lost forever.  The woman who loved her husband, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She loved every family member connected and beyond!  This beautiful Mother we loved so, and forever!

Isabel is survived by her daughter, Theresa Martin (Darrell) of Miramichi; sons: Paul Voutour of Miramichi, and Greg Voutour (Sabrina) of Hamilton, ON; sisters:  Edith McGrath, Marie Lyndsay, Anna Austin, and Carolyn Gautreau (Moe); grandchildren:  Kevin, Stephen, Clifton, Marla, Amy, Luke, and Brittany; great-grandchildren:  Skylar, Sahara, Bella, Tyler, Ethan, Joshua, Ahriyah, and Zayden; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Besides her parents, Isabel is predeceased by her daughter Tammy Connors (Steve); granddaughter, Samantha; daughter-in-law, Catherine Voutour; brothers: Francis Murdock (Evelyn), and John Murdock; sisters: Pauline Jobe, and infant sister, Eleanor Murdock; nephew, Michael McGrath; great-nephew, Joey Ryan; and brothers-in-law: Joe McGrath, Wayne Lyndsay, and Johnny Jobe

By request, there will be no visitation.  A Funeral Mass and Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday, July 9th, 2024, at St. Michael's Basilica, 10 Howard St. Miramichi, at 11 AM with The Reverend Father David Rioux as Celebrant.  Music for the service was provided by Mr. David Bunnell and the hymns were "The Lord Is My Shepherd", "Peace Is Flowing Like A River", "Take and Eat, This Is My Body", "Songs Of The Angels" and the recessional hymn was "Into Your Hands".  The scripture reading was read by Theresa Gammon.  Interment followed in St. Michael’s Cemetery.

The family would like to express extreme gratitude to Dr. Losier for his kind and compassionate medical care of our Mother.  As well, a special thank you to the Staff of Percy’s Place for their wonderful care.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to Percy’s Place would be appreciated by the family.

Arrangements were entrusted to Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., Miramichi, NB; telephone (506) 773-3492.  Additionally, messages of condolence may be shared online at www.adamsfh.ca
