J. Paul Doucette
1948 – 2021
Joseph Paul Doucette of Miramichi, passed away peacefully in Napan surrounded by his loving family on April 13, 2021 at the age of 72
Born in Chatham, on April 28, 1948, he was the eldest son of the late Fred and Esther (Comeau) Doucette. Paul worked as a Hospital Porter for many years. He was a member of St. Michael’s Basilica, was a Third Degree Knight with The Knights of Columbus, and a member of The Royal Canadian Legion (Chatham). He enjoyed golfing, bowling and playing cards.
He is survived by his common-law spouse, Valerie Fowler; sisters: Theresa (Albert) Traer of Napan, Sandra (Hilaire) Daigle of Napan, Diane (Bob) Walsh of Miramichi and Ann (late Darryl) Roy of Napan; brother, Gerard (Carole) Doucette of Miramichi; and eleven nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; and brother-in-law, Darryl.
No visitation was held. A PUBLIC Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Michael’s Basilica on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 11 am, with Father John Fraser as Celebrant. Music for the service was provided by Lynn Doyle and the hymns were "Here I Am Lord", "The Lord is my Shepherd", "Good Night and Good Morning", "You'll See Me There" and "Song of Farewell" and the recessional hymn was "On Eagles Wings". The scripture readings were read by Deborah McDonnell and Amy McGraw and the Prayers of Intercessions were lead by Amy McGraw. The eulogy was presented by Jason Daigle.
Members of the Knights of Columbus formed an honor guard in memory of Paul. The honorary pallbearers were Chris Traer, Gary Traer, Jason Daigle, Brandy Daigle, Todd Power, Sean Power, Mike Walsh, Any McGraw, Lori Hilchey, Mike Roy and Melisa MacDonald. Pallbearers were Mel Richard, Danny Redmond, Fred O'Brien, Danny Dinan, Leslie Lewis and Norman Richard. Interment was held in St. Andrew’s Catholic Cemetery, Loggieville.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the ALS Society of Canada, or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
