In Loving Memory of James E. Carroll

1942 – 2023

James Everette Carroll of Shannex Losier Hall, and formely of 71 King St., Miramichi, passed away peacefully at his residence on Monday August 14, 2023, at the age of 80.

Born in Chatham on December 17, 1942, he was the eldest son of the late Thomas Carroll (1955) and Laura (Buckley) Carroll (2007) of Bay du Vin Beach, NB. James spent his early years in Bay du Vin and had a lifelong affection for the area and the people. His favorite activity in recent years was a Sunday drive to Escuminac and back, exploring all the side roads along the way. James was and Autobody Repairman by trade, having worked at several body shops in the Miramichi area, but spending the majority of his working career at Moncton Foundry. He moved back to Miramichi in 2014 and thoroughly enjoyed his years living at 71 King St. (Tweedie Manor).

James is survived by his two brothers: Ned Carroll of Fredericton, and Gerry (Patty) Carroll of Miramichi; two nieces: Jennifer Carroll (Daniel Jardine) of Miramichi, and Allison Carroll (Aron Adrian) of Medicine Hat, Alberta; one great-niece, Evelyn Jardine of Miramichi; and several cousins. He is also survived by his long-term caregiver, Linda McIntyre, whose dedication and kindness to James allowed him to remain in his own apartment for nearly 5 years.

At James’ request there was no visitation. Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Michael’s By-the-Sea Roman Catholic Church, Bayside, NB, on Friday, August 18, 2023, at 11 AM with The Reverend Father Antonio Reyes as Celebrant.  Music for the service was recorded music and the hymns were "Here I Am Lord", "Amazing Grace", "One Bread, One Body", Ave Maria", "Songs of the Angels" and the recessional hymn was "On Eagle's Wings".  The scripture readings were read by Jennifer Carroll and Allison Carroll and the Prayers of the Faithful were proclaimed by Linda McIntyre. Interment occurred in the church cemetery.  The pallbearers were Regis Carroll, Claude Chapman, Dick MacDougall, Bill Scott, Eddie Vautour and Brian Carter.

The family wishes to express thanks to Dr. Gerard Losier for the excellent care given to James over the years, also to the staff of Kelly Court, Losier Hall, for their care and compassion, especially during his final days.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Miramichi Community Foodbank, Miramichi SPCA, St. Michael’s By-the-Sea Cemetery Fund, or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., Miramichi, NB; telephone (506) 773-3492.  Additionally, messages of condolence may be shared online at www.adamsfh.ca
