James Gene Walsh Obituary

James Gene Walsh

   1950 – 2023

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James Gene Walsh of Baie-Ste-Anne, NB, who passed away peacefully on March 30, 2023. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother who touched the lives of many with his kindness, generosity, and unwavering love.

Born April 25th, 1950 in Chatham, NB, to Roland Walsh of Baie-Ste-Anne, and Mary (Stewart) Walsh of Kouchibouguac, Gene lived a full and fulfilling life, dedicated to his family and community.

He was a devoted husband to his wife Margaret (Blakley) of Chatham, and together they shared many happy years of marriage. As a father, he was a constant source of support and guidance to Brian (Kathy) of Hampton, Stephen of Vancouver, BC, and Kellie (Ryan) of Waasis, always putting his family's needs before his own.

Gene was a devoted grandfather who loved nothing more than spending time with his grandchildren Kailer and Emma Sloan, as well as Libby and Ali LeBail. Grampy cherished every moment he had with them and enjoyed spoiling them with his affection.

He was a role model and mentor to his siblings Sandra (late Tom) Gulliver (Manford Wasson) of Bay Du Vin Beach, Lyla (late Francis) Duplessis of Aurora, Ontario, Stewart Walsh of Baie-Ste-Anne, Edward Walsh of Bay du Vin, Tommy (Lee) of Auburnville, and his twin brother Ian (Rachelle) of Fredericton, always there to lend an ear and offer words of wisdom.

Gene was a loving uncle who found great joy in spending time with his many nieces and nephews. He watched them grow and supported them through the highs and lows of life, always ready with a kind word or a helping hand.

Gene was predeceased by his father Roland in 1982, his mother Mary in February 2023, his nephew Scott Duplessis in January 2023, and his Mother-In-Law Mary Blakley in 2017.

Gene's kindness and compassion were just as notable as his skills as a Lineman for NB Power. For over thirty years, he dedicated himself to ensuring that his community had safe and reliable electricity – braving many a winter storm. Gene's love of heavy equipment, machinery, and trucks was lifelong, and he owned and maintained a successful trucking company.

His generosity extended far beyond his immediate family, and he left a lasting impression on all who knew him. Gene's passing will be deeply felt by those who were lucky enough to cross his path, but his memory will live on through the countless lives he touched.

We remember Gene as a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, uncle, and beloved brother. He is now reunited with his loved ones who have passed before him, and his spirit will continue to shine bright in the hearts of all who knew him. Rest in peace, Gene. You will be dearly missed, but your legacy will endure.
