In Loving Memory of James (Jim) MacDonald
1935 – 2026
James (Jim) MacDonald of Miramichi, New Brunswick, passed away peacefully at Percy’s Place on May 18, 2026, at the age of 91, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born in Loggieville, New Brunswick, on March 24, 1935, he was the son of the late Clarence and Effie (MacLean) MacDonald, and was one of 14 children.
Jim was predeceased by his beloved wife of 66 years, Shirley (Trevors) MacDonald, and three children, Amy, Barry, and Judy.
Jim is survived by five daughters: Susan Crosson (Will), Brenda Harrison, Heather Disher (Raymond), Fay Fraser (Dwight), and Jennifer Petersen (Jeff); two sons, James MacDonald (Manon), and John MacDonald (Wilma); 24 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren; one sister, Ponsy Dickson; as well as many nieces and nephews.
After 35 years with NB Tel, Jim enjoyed a retirement filled with woodworking and cherished moments with family and friends.
A devoted man of faith, Jim’s life was centred on his love for his family, and his faith guided him throughout his life. He had a great love for all his grandchildren, and in his later years he shared a special bond with his granddaughter, Samantha.
Jim will be remembered for his steady presence, strong values, and the deep care he showed to all who knew him. He made a lasting impact on generations of loved ones. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.
Visitation was held at Adams Funeral Home, 140 King Street, Miramichi, New Brunswick, on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The funeral service was held at Adams Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., with speakers Charles O’Regan and Maxine Disher. The organist was Jeff Peterson. The hymns were "Jesus, the Very Thought of Thee", and "Oh! for the Peace". The active pallbearers were Michael MacDonald, Adam Crosson, Joey MacDonald, Trevor Fraser, Scott Fraser, and Ivan Petersen. Interment was held in Pine Grove Cemetery, Miramichi, New Brunswick, followed by a tea with the family at Loggieville Community Hall, where all were welcome.
