Jean F. MacDonald

    1937 – 2021

Jean Florence MacDonald of Miramichi, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on June 2, 2021, at the age of 84.

Born in Black River Bridge on April 4, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Mary MacDonald.  She was a retired employee of the Hotel Dieu Hospital, and a member of the Pioneer Senior Citizens Club.  She attended St. Andrew’s United Church, Miramichi.

Jean is survived by her two daughters: Deborah Martin (Greg) of Weldfield Collette Rd., and Marilyn O’Keefe (Stanley) of Napan; five grandchildren: Joey, Jacklyn (Kiley), Tanya (Rheal), Matthew (Cindy), and Michael (Tina); six great-grandchildren: Connar, Kardin, Austin, Devon, Hunter and Hannah; one sister, Hazel Watling of Glenwood; and one brother, Leonard MacDonald of Black River Bridge.  She was predeceased by her parents; one sister, Ruby Muir; and three brothers:  Herman, Eldon and Stan MacDonald.

The funeral service was held at St. Andrews United Church, 188 Wellington Street, on Friday, July 16, 2021 at 11 AM, with Rev. Charlene Maguire MacKnight as Officiant. Music for the service was provided by Lois McKinnon, and Choir Members from St. Andrew's United, and the Loggieville-Black River Pastoral Charge.  Songs included "Hallelujah" by grandson Micheal O'Keefe, and "On My Father's Side, recorded by Al Fraser.  Hymns included:  "Near to the Heart of God", "Til the Storm Passes By", with the recessional being "I'll Fly Away".  Lighting of the Memory Candle was by granddaughters:  Tanya Savoie, and Jackie McAllister.  Readings were by Merle Milson, and nephew, Stanley Muir.  Honorary Pallbearers included:  Konnar McAllister, Austin Savoie, Devan Savoie, and Hunter O'Keefe (all great-grandsons), as well as Laurie Patterson, Lloyd Mills, Merle Milson, Leon Bremner, Neil Watling, and Dennis Morrison.  Interment was in the Black River Community Cemetery.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the IWK Foundation, or the Miramichi SPCA would be appreciated by the family.
