In Loving Memory of Jean Williston
1937 – 2024
Jean (Gregan) Williston, wife of Theodore Williston of Hardwicke, NB, passed away at Shannex, Losier Hall on April 8, 2024, at the age of 87.
Born in Hardwicke, NB, on February 26, 1937, she was the daughter of the late James and Merle (MacRae) Gregan. Jean was a member of Myers United Church in Hardwicke, and the UCW. She was a School Teacher most of her life with many, many years as a Supply Teacher at Miramichi Rural School where she loved to be, late into her life. Jean loved being a part of the Miramichi Quilt Guild where she spent many hours.
Jean is survived by her husband, Theodore Williston; one daughter, Joan Blackmore of Miramichi; two sons: Ted Williston (Rachel), and Mark Williston (Elda), all of Hardwicke; five grandchildren: Krystal, Cyndi, Tiffany, Alicia, and Scott; nine great-grandchildren: David, Grace, Peter, Michael, Pamela, Adèle, Céleste, Thea, and Fiona; three brothers: Don Gregan (Carol) of Charlo, NB, Doug Gregan (Cheryl) of Hamilton, ON, and The Reverend Ivan Gregan of Halifax, NS; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her parents; special sister, Doreen Hopkins; son-in-law, Gary Blackmore; and sister-in-law, Ruby Gregan.
Visitation was held at Adams Funeral Home, 140 King St., Miramichi, on Sunday, April 14, 2024, from 2-4 PM, and 7-9 PM. Funeral Service was held at St. Stephen’s United Church, Black River Bridge, NB, on Monday, April 15, 2024, at 11 AM, with The Reverend David Allan as Officiant. Music Leadership was provided by David Mann and the Loggieville-Black River Joint Choir. The Eulogy was by Krystal Blackmore. Scripture readings were by The Reverend Ivan Gregan. The Pastoral Prayer was by The Reverend Charlene Maguire MacKnight. The Pallbearers were Jean and Theodore's grandchildren. A reception for all was held by the family in the church basement. Interment will be in the Black River Community Cemetery later in the spring.
