Jessie Winnifred Dickson Obituary

In Loving Memory of Jessie Winnifred Dickson (Chapman)

September 27, 1950 – June 20, 2026

It is with sadness that the family of Jessie Winnifred Dickson (Chapman) announce her passing at Miramichi Regional Hospital on June 20, 2026, at the age of 75.

Born in Bay du Vin, New Brunswick, on September 27, 1950, Jessie was the daughter of the late Burton and Dorothy Chapman (Williams).

Jessie devoted more than 35 years of dedicated service to Mount Saint Joseph Nursing Home, where she worked in several departments throughout her career, including housekeeping, nursing, laundry, kitchen services, and activities. Most of her years were spent in housekeeping, where she was known for her strong work ethic, kindness, and commitment to caring for others.

A generous and community-minded woman, Jessie was always willing to lend a helping hand. She enjoyed volunteering her time baking and cooking for church functions, community events, and anyone who needed a meal or a treat. Her homemade fudge and cinnamon rolls were favourites among family, friends, and neighbours. Whether it was a casserole, or a tray of baked goods, Jessie rarely arrived anywhere empty-handed and was happiest when feeding others.

Although washer toss and horse shows were interests more often enjoyed by her husband than by Jessie herself, she faithfully attended events and tournaments, always making sure there was food to share with participants and spectators alike. She also looked forward to gathering with friends for weekly card games and treasured the friendships she made throughout her life.

Jessie was a faithful adherent of St. Mary's Anglican Church in Miramichi and lived her life with a spirit of generosity, compassion, and service to others.

She is survived by her loving husband of over 56 years, Earl Dickson; her daughters, Betty Ann Moar of Fleur de Lys, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Tanya MacKinnon (Greg) of Moncton, New Brunswick; her stepson, Blaine Dickson (Robyn) of Rimbey, Alberta; and her cherished grandchildren, Quinn (Robyn) and Brady.

She is also survived by her sisters, Nora Dickson (the late Wilburn of Napan), New Brunswick, Debbie Jardine (Perley) of Napan, New Brunswick, Connie Boone (the late Jerry) of Woodstock, New Brunswick, and Donna Chaisson (Wilfred) of Miramichi; her brothers, Claude Chapman (Beth) of Miramichi, Jim Chapman (Patricia) of Bay du Vin, New Brunswick, and Ken Chapman (Sharon) of Miramichi; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Besides her parents, Jessie was predeceased by her sisters, Gertrude Dickson and Anna Chapman; and her brothers, Stafford, Reggie, John, Bobbie, and Ralph Chapman.

Jessie will be lovingly remembered for her warm smile, her generous heart, and her unwavering dedication to her family, friends, church, and community. Through her acts of kindness, her delicious home cooking, and the countless lives she touched, she leaves behind a legacy of love and service that will not be forgotten.
